Pros

The majority of my coworkers are great people, hard workers. Untill recently when they started firing people for no reason and everyone is quitting, all of the captains, leut., and patrol were as well, we had solid teams on every shift untill recently. The job itself is easy and simple anyone can do it and the pay is good for what it is, but this is overshadowed but all the drama that goes on here at the Burns Harbor, IN location.

Cons

Site manager is openly racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, generally just an all around bully And sexually harasses employees. HR refuses to do anything about his horrid behavior, he's literally made several employees cry, and they fired the employee who reported him for harassment (and the reasons for firing her were complete lies and made up). They will hire you for a position and lie to you, the majority of the time those hired for patrol never actually get the position. HR lady makes the schedule and does not care about any of the employees at all and Will end up ignoring your agreed upon availability and switching your shift randomly without asking. They hire absolutely anyone as long as you pass a mouth swab drug test, they don't interview anyone at all, so we get lots of employees that realistically shouldn't have gotten the job and get fired really quickly or quit within the first week. You have to babysit your paychecks because our timesheets are very often conveniently lost, or they like to Forget holiday pay or OT, or put holiday pay in as normal pay (we never get double time for anything, only time and a half for holidays and OT and no shift differential for nights). The rules/policies here change weekly, were constantly being told we do everything wrong when we're doing things how we were trained (or more recently not trained because they will put people at gates they've never been trained on, West Gate, and they NEVER train anyone for dock). The handbook is outdated, half of the policies tell you to do things wrong. HR will definitely ignore you 90% of the time regardless of your issue, especially if your paycheck is messed up. A huge chunk of employees are currently missing paychecks and not getting any answers from HR. You will either get no hours here or never have time off, no in between. You'll likely never have a regular 40hr work week and seniority means nothing. They keep over hiring and giving all the hours to new people when long standing employees have been begging for at least 40 hours for months. Once you're no longer new, HR no longer cares about you. There's ALOT of favoritism, the same rules Do Not apply to everyone. I could go on and on..they treat the good employees so poorly untill they no longer have the motivation to put in the effort they used to and then wonder why people keep quitting. The communication here is so extremely poor, between cliffs and genric, between each shift, between sit manager and captains, between HR and rest of staff. Also the schedule is made for the whole month, but updated several times a week, sometimes daily, and if the schedule is updated while you're sleeping that's apparently not an excuse to not know your schedule was changed and you will be written up or possibly fired for missing work. They had no attendance policy besides requiring doctors notes after 2 days absence up untill a few months ago. Then they decided to change the policy and lie about signing documents when we were hired (we never did) acknowledging that we can only miss 5 days in a calendar year, which is reasonable but a completely brand new made up policy we definitely Did Not sign for and acknowledge when hired.) Now doctors notes mean nothing and you'll get written up or fired for things like being deathly ill with pneumonia or your child being in the hospital with lyme disease.

Pros

The job itself is great easiest job I ever had. However the management needs replaced badly if you do not fit in their little click then they make your life miserable. I loved my job but but couldn't stand the drama with the management and a lot of the other coworkers who act like a bunch of childish high schoolers

Cons

The management needs replaced badly
