The work environment was characterized by fear and intimidation rather than open communication.
There appeared to be limited regard for employee health, safety, and well-being.
Employment contracts could be terminated without clear justification, even when employees raised questions professionally.
Salary structure lacked transparency. The offer letter did not clearly state net salary, and overtime payments mentioned in the contract were not honored in practice.
Basic salary formed a small percentage of the gross salary, which was not clearly explained during recruitment.
Formal training was not provided; employees were expected to learn entirely on the job.
Employees were discouraged from speaking openly in meetings, as raising questions—even respectfully—could negatively affect job security.
My Experience:
My contract was terminated after I asked a professional and respectful question during a meeting. Following this, I was informed that my contract would be ended and was paid one month’s salary in lieu of notice, as stated in the contract. This occurred while I was working at the Genser Prestea Gas Conditioning Plant. I worked there for 4 months.
