Pros

Overall, the actual workers and staff are great to work with. GTC is basically guaranteed to generate revenue yearly because it is part of the Integrated Transmission System (ITS) - essentially a legal monopoly in Georgia - and are unregulated by the Georgia public service commission (PSC). So even in down turn economies, 80% of people should be able to keep a job there. So it is a stable company in that sense. 401k match is not the highest, but above average for sure.

Cons

GTC's strength is also its weakness. By it being a stable company, it doesn't really need to change. So diversity lacks in the upper management and especially the board members. There is a lack of racial empathy and sensitivity, for example, on December 17, 2015 then CEO of GEMC (Family of Companies) joked about "hanging black people in the south looking like a lineman" and the entire auditorium laughed during our 75yr anniversary celebration. Or some of the EMC member executives (C-level) literally requested for employees that "look like them (white)" instead of "others" - in respect to employees going into rural Georgia representing GTC. So it really is an archaic family of companies that hasn't progressed for over 75yrs and is unregulated, even though it uses tax payer dollars in the form on RUS. It has growth opportunities.

Pros

Working under Nathan Lovett, you will be given the freedom to design projects the way you want to, so as long as they conform to the excellent standards the company has in place.

Cons

The average employee age is relatively high, and some people seem resistant to change. However, the company is trying hard to modernize and adapt to the changing industry.
