Pros

great people except those in charge

Cons

This used to be a great place to work but management has made it so miserable that there has been a mass exodus that isn’t ending any time soon. They don’t care that quality people are fleeing, in fact they pride themselves that now they have to pay less salary. They lie, backpedal and revise reality so that workers are the ones blamed for the fact that we have brought in zero money in the last year, and not much before that. The top-heaviness of the management structure here is directly proportional to how much the top earners don’t do; there have been several high-level hires in recent months, each more incompetent than the last. They try to put on a progressive face but this place is a good ole boy network with a few outliers thrown in for optics. They value fluff over substance and freak out at any hint of dissent. They consistently focus on the wrong problems and have no interest in solving the issues that have brought this place so far down. I’d be surprised if their doors are still open in a year.

Run far and fast from this organization

Pros

Does some really great work at the field level - innovative projects, dedicated staff. Good benefits package.

Cons

I don't think I know a single person left at this organization (aside from senior leadership) that is not actively looking for a new position. Senior leadership is vastly overpaid for an organization this size and are incompetent and completely out of touch. Went through a very poorly executed reorganization last year and at the same time threatened layoffs. Planned layoffs did not occur only because around 40% of the HQ staff left. A senior staff member was allowed to resign quietly despite repeated incidents of inappropriate behavior that went unaddressed for years. Despite some new high level hires, organization is still floundering - unable to bring in new revenue and lower level staff bear the brunt of doing more work with fewer resources.

Stay far away - extremely toxic environment

Pros

Some good people at the lower levels just trying to survive

Cons

GC is a very very difficult place place to work. Manipulation and power games are the way individuals advance and there is a culture of retaliation that comes from the top. There have been important individuals who have sexually harassed employees but were allowed to continue working there for years until they were allowed to "resign". Senior management allows abuse, uses retribution and is completely incompetent and at times corrupt.
