Pros

You get real autonomy in your work. Leadership is close, approachable, and genuinely cares about the team. Your voice carries weight regardless of your title. Compensation is fair. The work is meaningful and the impact you create is tangible.

Cons

GoodUnited is a startup, so priorities shift often. That can be frustrating at times. You will also wear multiple hats, which is expected at this stage but worth knowing before you join.

Pros

Working with incredible nonprofits whose missions are truly changing the world is one of the most rewarding aspects of this company. While the work is not easy, it is deeply fulfilling to contribute each day to efforts that are genuinely making a difference. Supporting these organizations through social media fundraising allows them to continue their life-saving and life-changing work, which adds a strong sense of purpose to what we do. There is also a high level of autonomy at GoodUnited, which creates meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth. Employees are trusted to take ownership of their roles without micromanagement. Success here is driven by your own motivation and tenacity—you’re encouraged to continuously expand your knowledge and develop professionally.

Cons

GoodUnited is very much a startup environment, which means things move quickly and often unpredictably. To succeed, you need to be adaptable and comfortable with constant change. The team sets a high bar for performance and expects new hires to match that level of work ethic and drive from the start, which can feel overwhelming if you’re not accustomed to startup culture. This role also demands a proactive, self-starter mindset and a willingness to learn through trial and error. Because the work is closely tied to social media, the landscape can shift rapidly and without warning, often in ways that are frustrating and outside of your control. The pace is intense, and at times the work can feel grueling. Maintaining focus, creativity, and resilience is essential to consistently deliver high-quality results for nonprofit partners.

Pros

Autonomy - there's a high level of trust between team members, from the leaders of the company down. Flexibility - you're expected to get your work done on time and to be always seeking improvement, but you don't need to be chained to your desk to accomplish this. I've never felt in the wrong for having to run an errand during the day, having to pick up my kid from school early, or for taking a vacation without checking Slack. Tight-knit team & culture - the team is the glue that makes GoodUnited a special place. Almost everyone I've worked with here has been well-intentioned, hard-working, and a friend. There's virtually no 'politics' or work drama here, and I think that's a testament to the hiring process and virtues put in place. Social impact - when times are hard or stressful, you can always remind yourself that you're making a real impact on the world. Saving lives, helping advance research for deadly diseases, supporting people who need help. Our clients have told us how important the work we do is, and that is worth all the stressful times at the end of the day.

Cons

Can be stressful - working in the tech space is not for the faint of heart; especially in the nonprofit tech space. We've hired some great people and also lost some people due to burnout and unfortunately, layoffs. The existing team has had to take on a lot of extra work and/or find ways to get by with the added workload. It has been extremely difficult at times, but we have always made it through. Inconsistency of processes - As we've shifted our focus over time, we've ran into some inconsistencies in business processes. We've gone through several different OKR tools and people management products, and we've lost focus on some really important employee health tools.
