great technology, poor management and unhealthy culture

1- the field of edge processors is really interesting and currently one of the most exciting activities in AI 2- talented engineers with diverse backgrounds and nationalities
Cons
A colleague briefly mentioned the lack of diversity in the management team and the instability of the France site. I will comment on these plus my own experience in more than 2 years. 1- Unfortunately lack of leadership is a major issue in GML. Members of the Management team do not have enough knowledge and vision of the technology and almost zero skills in people management. As a senior engineer with 10-15 years of experience in the field you would be shocked by the shallowness of technical direction in the company. 2- Paris site in particular is extremely unstable and mismanaged and this nullifies the hard and creative work of very competent engineers. So many talented engineers and leaders joined GML and left quickly, as soon as they realized the dysfunction of management. Few others who decided to stay and improve things were asked to leave or suppressed. 3- Due to high turnover of engineers a significant amount of work is lost between two managers or two restructurings. Unfortunately most of the people do not leave on good terms and the knowledge transfer is not done properly, if at all. Next generation of engineers start redoing some stuff from scratch and no one really cares about this waste of time and resources, as usually the old manager is too frustrated and the new one very clueless. 4- For myself, lack of trust in the company is the biggest difficulty. As a senior engineer, It’s so draining to see that every time you collect data to highlight a major issue in the design or implementation you are attacked and mistreated. It shouldn’t be the case in a company with the intention to build a functional product.
