Pros

There are some exceptional coworkers, the open environment is favorable, attire is casual and working from home is a plus.

Cons

They allure with all the right words, bells and whistles, but they do not offer equitable opportunity. They manage by favoritism and conduct unethical practices. The working environment is very toxic because of this. Expectations are inconsistent and favor their biased preferences. They promoted themselves as a growing company with unlimited opportunities. In reality, they promote based on favoritism and then do not offer much needed management training. With such strong senior leadership, it was quite a disappointment to discover they lack fundamental policies and structure to allow for individuals to perform at their highest levels of ability. It is unfortunate, because they truly could be so much more if they set their arrogance aside. I would be shocked if they don't end up with lawsuits for their discrimination.

Pros

Really no. Working with a bunch of data analysts of no relevant experience. How do they even get in to work as data analyst here?

Cons

Low pay, 45K. Work with people without good tech skills. When I interviewed, they tried to sell this position to me; a really bad position. No programming involved, no data analysis. Wish I was turn down by them, or rejected this offer.

Groundspeed Response
7y
Groundspeed takes the feedback, wellness, and development of all of our employees very seriously. We recognize that, even as a technology company, it is our people that will achieve the exciting breakthroughs in engineering and data science to accomplish our vision and mission. That is why we put a lot of effort into providing the right opportunities, benefits, and culture to not only attract great talent but, more importantly, provide every member of our team opportunities to grow and flourish as their effort and capabilities allow. In addition, we adhere to a core set of values that focus on positivity, effort, growth and supporting each other through thick and thin. As such, we offer the following response to this review: We do not condone or tolerate behavior or comments that disparage the skills, experiences and capabilities of fellow employees - this contradicts our core values. We have an outstandingly talented and diverse Data Analyst team consisting of people with academic backgrounds in economics, physics, math, comp sci, engineering, biology, as well as music and sociology. Most have earned an MS or PhD from top universities. To say they lack “relevant experience” or “tech skills” does not reflect the wonderfully diverse, intelligent and vibrant Data Analyst team we have built. We welcome and encourage constructive criticism from our employees. We value people that think differently WHILE ALSO respecting others, and practicing kindness. At Groundspeed, who you are as a person is more important than what you do since, quite frankly, we think everyone does something important here. That is why a great fit with our culture is of paramount importance to us. With the right attitude and the trust and support of our teammates, we can individually and collectively achieve great things. So, in terms of this review, we would refer to our core values of: "Positivity, Being Positive is a Choice" and "Selflessness, In the TEAM we trust".

Pros

I had been with GS for several years and met some really talented people. Most people I worked with were caring, kind, compassionate, and empathetic. It was always easiest to accomplish tasks together as a team. I was exposed to and learned from many projects/tasks that forced me to learn new skills which furthered my career. Along those same lines, I became very good at quickly adapting to new directions since directives changed almost daily. Health Insurance and medical benefits are quite good compared with other tech companies. Full remote work since lockdowns from covid began.

Cons

The saying of "that's the start up way" was, in my opinion, used way too often as an excuse for lack of direction, management, and follow through. Planning and executing plans was always incredibly difficult due to lack of clear direction and help from senior leadership. Accountability for such issues was also lacking as many always tried to find someone to blame rather than work towards a solution. There was always a promise of the work and tools becoming more intuitive and easier, but very few improvements had been made to the process without significant workarounds in the processes. When asking for help in developing better processes, not much was given so we had to figure out most of it on our own it felt like. Along these lines both short term and long term planning were nearly impossible since clear directions and deadlines were rarely given from leadership. Working here requires quite a bit of sacrifice to a work-life balance as there is almost too much work given out that requires significant overtime with no overtime pay. When speaking concerns about my work load I was told that I needed to set my own boundaries while in the same breath I was handed more tasks. Little loyalty to employees that have put "blood, sweat, and tears" into the company.
