Pros

The feeling of pure ecstasy when handing in your laptop and leaving this place for the final time.

Cons

Imagine a company where a huge variety of employees quit in the middle of a global pandemic with no alternative job prospects because the workplace environment and management are so toxic. Welcome to Gulf Researcher! The positive reviews here are fake and entirely engineered by management. They think they have "haters" and "trolls" because of the negative reviews on this website. They will never accept any responsibility for it or even entertain the idea that THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. A once 40-strong workplace of genuinely talented and intelligent individuals has diminished to less than a handful because we would not accept being treated like literal faeces. It is not that we are weak or that we can't handle the criticism; it is that there is more to life for all of us than being miserable because you spend over 50 hours a week working for someone that does not and will not ever show any kind of gratitude for what you do. Instead, management will try to belittle you as regularly as possible for the most minor of things, when, in reality, a little introspection is what is needed by the MD. A little less narcissism and a little more compassion could have meant that all those talented people continued to help build this company. Instead, most ex-employees would not care if it crumbled to the ground. Things to expect when working for Gulf Researcher: • Working like a dog with no compensation for overtime (and there will be A LOT of overtime), or even just the minimum level of respect from your employer • Having some cool colleagues but you’re not allowed to talk to them or laugh or even smile • Never taking your full, entitled lunch break because “it’s not what you’re here for” • Completely arbitrary and illogical rules & processes so that you can be monitored at all times • By “at all times”, I really mean AT ALL TIMES. You are expected to give control of your own phone to the company so that they can monitor your every move and control your device if necessary. • Working weekends and public holidays to then be denied your requested vacation • Weak carrot & stick “incentives”. By this I mean being promised a bonus by contract and then having it taken away due to COVID, despite working twice as hard and the company earning even more money during this time. Then, as the company falls into crisis because so many people have quit, management will dangle a “discretionary bonus” for “sometime later in the year” to try to deter remaining employees from leaving. SPOILER: it doesn’t work; everyone will still leave. • No work/life balance coupled with anxiety & depression. I do not use these words anecdotally. This is serious. I would not wish working here on my worst enemy. I have genuinely not felt happier in my life than the day I left and I will never look back.

Pros

-Leaving this place. -Singlehandedly the worst place I have have worked at.

Cons

-If I could give this company one star I would. -This company breaks every labour law there is. You do not get paid overtime, and do not get a lunch break, in fact the managing director will even call you on your lunch break to interrupt you. If you want to work 60+ hours a week and not get compensated, this is the place for you. Also good luck trying to take a vacation. Oh and did I mention you will work almost every weekend with no additional pay, because you will. -If you want to get mental health issues such as suicidal thoughts, anxiety or depression then this place is also the place for you. The managing director will demean you constantly every day to the point you want to give up living. I developed a panic disorder working here. -There is no progression at this company. -Any of the positive reviews written about this company have been written by management. -I learned no transferable skills at this company. It was a waste of my time and my life.

Pros

One of the few upsides of working at this company is compensation and health insurance. The company can be flexible with work from home sometimes, or leaving the office for appointments. There is an option to work reduced hours for a paycut.

Cons

You are expected to work during most public holidays and weekends. Work hours are long (10+ hours a day) and there have been countless times where teams have stayed overnight at the office to get "urgent" work done, and sometimes compensation for the extra time spent is not sufficient even when employees ask for it. There is no overtime pay for any additional hours spent working.
