Pros
They were willing to hire me with nothing more than a CompTIA A+. Some were hired with less than that, so it's a foot in the door at least. Benefits were decent, and the PTO/Sick Leave/Holidays started accumulating immediately. Plenty of time to study if you are motivated. Other DCSTs and hourly staff are easy to get along with. Two years after starting at H5, I had moved jobs twice, got a bunch of certs, including a CCNA, and was able to get a NOC Analyst II role. My time at H5 was short, but it helped me get a better job.
Cons
The DCST position is mostly a security guard role. Very little actual IT experience is involved. There is no path upward. H5 does not promote DCSTs to anything besides maintenance, shipping, and receiving, or DCST II. Some of the corporate people are horrible humans. They leave dirty dishes lying around for a custodian to pick up, literally laugh in the face of hourly people, and look down their noses at us DCSTs.
