Pros

You'll learn what it's like to pay your dues and likely what you don't want from a company.

Cons

Most project mtgs consisted of who (give me a name) was at fault rather than solving issues. If person at fault was on the call, they could expect a berating in front of their peers or even worse, encouragement in real-time to identify at fault person while on call. This does not cultivate a team environment and is terrible for building long term relationships. At this same weekly "team" meeting, I asked if we would be starting with a safety moment (commonplace at former employer) to which my manager quipped "not at this meeting" - frankly I was shocked - as a manufacturing and construction company how do we not have time for a 5 min safety moment? At a company wide meeting I attended the CEO (you can look up name in 2020) publicly ridiculed a struggling dept as a clown car. After working there a few months, my first thought when someone didn't answer the phone was - who's doing their job now (due to the high turnover)? If you are part of the chose ones, you will do fine - although most of those folks have worked there decades. If I was just coming out of school or hadn't worked at higher performing companies, it is scary to think that I might have believed this to be normal - which I think is a delusion that some of the "chosen ones" have fallen into - however, others just thrive in that environment. Also, prepare to work through most of your lunches if you actually care about leaving a decent time while supporting work in the field.

Pros

The people you work with will be some of the most intelligent and professionally competent of your career . You will have a wealth of abundant knowledge to benefit from.

Cons

- No one in management cares about the employees - e.g., the most recent weather tragedy in Texas resulted in a project overview call where management yelled at and berated employees for not having their project numbers in order. - All support staff have been decimated (Safety, Quality, and Engineering) - Hard work pays off in more hard work - HMT mgmt will continue to fire employees and overload existing employees with all of their responsibilities - ad infinitum? - No ownership or accountability. There is no clear R&Rs or accountability system in place; blame is pointed and placed at the time of a failure - not before, and certainly not in time to proactively resolve any issues. - Management refuses to invest in CE that would improve our market standpoint and position us to win more work; but blames sales and Operations when our efforts to win work fail. - While I highly recommend working for the best in any given industry, I recommend staying away from HMT until the market turns. Ownership via PE firm does not appear to be working in the favor of deeper market footprint or increased presence in the aboveground storage tank business.

Pros

There is none that come to mind.

Cons

Management is a joke and should be sued for sexual harassment, discrimination, and unfair and unethical practices. They are cowards and will terminate without cause or notice. Work here at your own RISK!
