Tiny branding agency

Pros

- Small team on which you get to wear many hats outside of traditional responsibilities of your role - Pay is decent-ish for more junior positions and CEO is willing to negotiate salary and terms of employment during the hiring process - Warm fuzzies working on non-profit work (which can sometimes be challenging)

Cons

- Absolutely no growth potential here - CEO is super nice in interview process and around clients but pretty condescending day-to-day - You do NOT want to see Paul get upset - if something doesn't go perfectly, expect the fingers to be pointed at you - CEO micro-manages like crazy and it's likely the reason he will never retire. - there is no work/life balance. You will get random days off, or days ending early (and hear it mentioned as a perk you should be grateful for) but you will also be made to feel like you need to cancel/postpone scheduled time off. - if you're hired for a role, you will be doing a lot more than what you agreed to do or expect - ultimately, it's a small branding agency with roots in colour theory - exciting projects don't come along very often - tiny office on the edge of Liberty Village in a very sleepy/boring building, and it felt like there is nothing to do and nowhere do go when you do actually take a lunch - the junior, inexperienced designers kind of worship the CEO even though they're not treated well... they just don't know better, and that's sad. - experienced freelance acquaintances and their opinions/work are values waaaaaaaaay more than any full time employee - I always got the impression that those people are actually smart and do great work, and they're smart enough to know they wouldn't want to work at Haft2 exclusively. I imagine Paul is palatable in small remote doses. - got a complaint? want to report an hr issue? good luck. - crazy employee turnover, and if you join this team, you will likely move on very quickly too. I thankfully got out of there in under 6 months.

Pros

- Non-profit space can be rewarding at times - Colour is a focus and can be fun. - Some great passionate team members you get to work with.

Cons

- The leader of the agency lacks leadership and a bigger picture thinking, should retire and trust within his employees to lead but his delicate ego won't allow this. - Agency pretends it is a full service agency but ultimately it is a branding agency. Nothing more. - Senior Management often plays the blame game, promotes a culture of fear instead of transparency. - Employee retention is abysmal. No one wants to stay. - Covid safety measures were not taken seriously. We can work from home! - The fact that the owner's ego was so delicate that he responded to a negative review here personally just shows how out of touch this person is. Hire a real HR person, not a glorified accountant. Saying the positive reviews are the "true" story. Huge red flag. You may not have a cottage but he did have a vacation home in Palm Springs. The owner should never speak on behalf of the entire staff of Haft2, your voice is clearly biased.

Pros

Haft2 is a great place to learn and work. Counter to other post by a past employee, Haft2 is very open and transparent with employees and clients. Giving recognition to the team. Very supportive of clients, we go the extra mile to ensure they're happy. Excellent leadership and mentorship for a small agency.

Cons

Perfect for people who enjoy smaller agencies and get to do a variety of things. If you're only good at one thing, probably not the right agency.
