So toxic

Pros

You get a discount on clothes

Cons

The owner, Stacy at Hampden is one of the worst people to work for. At the beginning of covid, she gathered us all in a room without a mask, and told us that it wasn’t about our safety- it was about her business. She doesn’t actually care about any of employees but acts like she does to save face on insta. All the of them previous reviews are spot on, she spits people out when she’s done with them. This woman has no kindness in her heart if it isn’t about her.

Pros

Getting to work with other people who share the same passion for fashion as you. The team of stylists and e-commerce are extremely creative, passionate people to work with.

Cons

The store owner created an extremely toxic work place environment and filled her employees with fear of termination. You often work overtime without pay or any gratuity. Her infamous quote is "all employees are on salary, not commission" which is an absolute CROCK. The salaries are extremely low and she is the only one who benefits from this. Specifically during covid, she and the retail director often laughed at employees for wearing masks, belittled them, and enforced a rule that all employees must work IN store during the global pandemic. There was no respect for her employees health. Employees were threatened that they would lose their job during a global pandemic if they did not physically show up regardless of the mayor's demands that people work from home. Sadly, biggest disappointment in a high fashion retail business that prides itself on making women feel empowered and themselves - when ultimately it does the complete opposite for the people who work there.

Pros

Salaried position Free clothes Allotment each month towards clothing

Cons

I have never worked in a more volatile and toxic environment. The owner, Stacy Smallwood, is demeaning and outright hostile to her employees. The turnover is almost unbelievable and that should be a heads up from the start. You will be lead on with empty promises of “monthly bonuses” and salaried positions, all to be worked 50+ hours a week with no bonus and unrealistic expectations. There are no benefits and you have to pay for your own parking. The company is severely understaffed. They refuse to pay part timers overtime, you will be working for free. Expect to sit in day long meetings to do personality test, all to be fired after you clash with the owner’s manic personality. Avoid this company at all cost. I witnessed so many young and talented individuals taken advantage of and burnt out.
