Worst company you could ever work for

Pros

Occasionally some interesting projects to work on

Cons

Where do I begin… - cult like atmosphere where the CEO and board are placed on a pedestal and almost idolised. - Only company I’ve ever heard of that has a manifesto rather than core values - manifesto is just a sales pitch to get staff to space away and dedicate their lives towards making the shareholders rich at their own expense - shares are dangled in front of staff without any means of actually attaining (no metrics, timeframes etc) - salaries well under industry with very low annual raises - bonuses almost non existent - company does almost nothing to eradicate bad behaviour, which is rife. Bullies are given a free pass because they make the business money - company likes to pretend is cares about diversity and equality but in reality is run by a bunch of old white men stuck in the 1950s - no flexible work policy, no wfh If you care about your mental and physical health, and actually being compensated for your experience, then do you work for Hatch.

Out of touch with reality

Pros

- You may find some great people who genuinely care and want to help you grow - Projects vary which helps to develop new skills and gain new experiences

Cons

- Senior management push diversity extremely hard, however the board contains only old white males. Due to company policies, females will get placed in senior roles/proposals before males. - Work flexibility is only on their terms. Very limited WFH opportunities due to old school micromanagement culture (They panicked during COVID as they couldn't travel to other offices and their jobs became meaningless). Can't purchase additional leave. Difficult to take leave unless there is no work for you (it becomes expected to reduce non chargeable hours). Forced to take 2 weeks leave over Christmas. Must not have more than 100hrs of leave at the start of the year. - Pay is low unless you are in senior management. You might charge out 250k+ a year to clients but only receive 80k. Like others have said, Shares are dangled like a carrot on a stick but rarely offered. If you do get offered you must purchase them (expect to pay at least 50k), If you decline you will never get offered again. Once you have shares expect it to be used against you for any pay rises. Asking for a pay rise isn't a thing unless you have another offer from another company. - Limited growth due to flat structure. If you're a white male, you are now marginalised as they desperately attempt to fill senior roles with females to hit diversity KPIs. - Most senior management are "yes men" who might not personally agree with the board however still push it. Everyone is too scared to speak their opinion, as they will become career limited very quickly. - Feedback doesn't get accepted and will get written off with "they are only one person" or "they didn't get X so they are not happy". Even though the data shows people are not satisfied at Hatch anymore.

Weird company

Pros

Hyper North American culture.. we are the world kind of stuff... however for a full-on mining company... some aspirations for diversity of business... failing massively in that department. If you are going to buy multiple successful businesses... let them be successful..

Cons

The hyper American culture.. it's a weird business culture to literally all 193 other countries in the world except for two.. Honestly... what is wrong with the USA and Canadian work culture... shouldn't be exported... stop with the all of world updates and all of company meetings. You ARE weird. Everyone outside of Canada thinks you are strange as hell.. Dutch work culture... Korean work culture... Japanese... Argentinian.. even Spanish and Italian, French and German.. all have great elements.. American culture.. cut-throat, corporate, weird and with no understanding of the wider world. Just complete weirdos. It's no wonder so many acquired business units are failing.. just a weird company.
