Pros

Long established company. Work days out.

Cons

Hatton's used to be a great company to work for, not anymore. I have already sorted my cv and I am looking for a job that is anywhere but here. The big bad boss that parades himself around as this amazing bloke is nothing more than an over-arrogant megalomaniac. He does not have any regard for his staff or their feelings. Staff are too scared to say something because he flies off the handle at anything and we fear we will loose our jobs. He also has a thing for the ladies. He likes to take his pick of the pretty girls. Since the owner stepped down he has gone power mad! He doesn't care what level you are. How long you have served there. He will publicly disgrace you no matter who you are. I have been moved around the warehouse and now we are expected to do everything and be great at it but you can be left on one job for ages and then loose touch on others. If you swap back you are expected to be perfect at it again because its all based on unrealistic stats. Nobody can be perfect at everything! I am leaving due to the amount of stress this man is making me feel. I do not feel like I have job security anymore. It is very sad as I have made some great colleagues. Nobody is treat by him like an idividual, we all feel owned.

Hi it's Rich. Really sorry you feel this way. Everyone in Hatton's has a team leader and they have a manager, who reports to me - so your relationship with those 2 is the most significant factor in how you are doing with training, performance and rotation. I probably know a lot less about how you are personally doing "stat wise", than you may think - I trust them to help you get the Skill & Will to be comfortable every day Christine hasn't really stepped down - I've been running Hatton's for 11 years now. If you have been with us for 4 years, then you have seen us improve nearly everything in the business. I have definitely become more proactive since I bought the firm - but you probably understand why that was inevitable You will definitely be able to get another job elsewhere, because our people are really high calibre (you included). But I would honestly rather you stayed and talked to your team leader or manager, about how you are feeling - and let them sort it out. I bet you have got loads of good company knowledge, that I honestly don't want to us lose, and I always feel proud of seeing people progress in the firm (regardless of what you may think of me) The scores you've put on are inaccurate and disrespectful to the people you work with who have helped raise them, from where we were years ago. Please do consider rescoring us.

Pros

Will put you in touch with a therapist when you need one and you will need one

Cons

Where do I start? Most of the management are lazy oafs who sit in ivory towers looking down on their “minions” who break their backs fixing the mistakes they make, and there is a lot of mistakes made, but play no hand in fixing. God forbid if you are a 110% give it all to the job type, because they will break your spirit, with their pressures to do things faster and faster to the detriment of health and wellbeing, which I have had the misfortune to witness , but don’t worry they will provide a therapists, that can be paid for by Medicash. You’re damned if you are a woman working there, your chances of promotion are slim to none, but if by some miracle you do get promoted they will wear you down with nit picking at problems that stem from others department but somehow lay at your feet instead of at the feet of the man who caused them in the first place, that’s unless the MD takes an interest in you, which is constantly happening with a lot of the girls. I agree with previous comments about the constant stress and anxiety, mostly as to whether you’ll have a job at the end of each week/month, or which department you are being dumped into, without any warning or proper training, is enough to give you ulcers, but don’t forget therapy is available. There is always changes being made in the company, these are usually the another new department manager, because they have sacked or “asked the last one to leave”. Don’t have any complaints or opinions because they are not shy in pushing people out, by going through their external HR company, again had the misfortune to witness this too. It is an awful place to work, with little to no respect for the people that actually keep this company running, they will bribe you with trips out to Blackpool and supplying breakfast and free coffee/ tea, if your happy for your soul to be destroyed then this is the place for you.

Pros

Most of the advisers are lovely people

Cons

I wish I had researched the company more before hand. You complete a "Thomas International" test before you start and this is all you are for the rest of the time you work there - a set of numbers. I was given a shift pattern when I started that changed 4 times in 8 weeks. My role was a team leaders but I was given random, odd tasks that were not in my remit and given little or no training on how to do them. The leadership is very poor and in-experienced with a "sales" feel to the customer service team that doesn't fit the needs of the business. My probation was ended because I hadn't ticked the box, literally and metaphorically. I didn't fit the Hattons mould and I was let go because of this. The company is sold as a family owned and run business but it couldn't be further from the truth. You have no input into how things run and wont be given enough time to make any improvements. I was told by my direct line manager throughout my time there that I was performing well, was doing more than anyone else had previously in that role and that the team had reacted really well to me. Then all of a sudden with no warning I was let go. This seems to be a common theme and something that, if you read the reviews on here, happens often. There is no confidentiality there as the line managers tell you , and each other, everything about your colleagues weaknesses and who has been sacked and why. Finally the biggest reason to avoid Hattons is the person in charge. A "melomaniac" as someone else on here perfectly put it. You can see his passive aggressive responses to people negatives posts on glassdoor and that is very much his approach to day to day conversations. Overall a massive blip in my work history and one that I wont look back on fondly - please do your research and avoid at all costs.

Hi it's Richard. Sorry it didn't work out. Psychometrics are an important part of how we manage people - they are fair and impartial. We invested a lot of time helping you understand the role. Shift patterns in retail (particularly during Covid) are likely to change - they were always well within what was advertised. I genuinely wish you the best for the future
