      Pros

      * Very rewarding to be involved in meaningful public work. * The kind of experience you get as associate director or very experienced scientist in company, you will get at entry level. * In general friendly coworkers. * Diversity at work place.

      Cons

      * Loss of some of the skills you acquired in Ph. D. * Post-doctoral, Ph.D and Master's degree holders are hired at same salary level. * Promotions are very difficult in general.If you get promoted, workload increases dramatically, which may require additional working hours. * Only few employees know how to become managers/Directors. Its unclear how people get promoted. * You need to know French in general to progress in career.

      Very interesting and rewarding job - working for the health and safety of Canadians

      Cons

      Mediocre leadership leading to conflict, harassement, favouritism, abuse of public funds and lack of integrity. Senior management does not lead trough example. Values of the Public Service Commission in hiring and promotion are almost systematically ignored.
