Pros

- Nice office (Burnaby only) - Light workload (in some department) - Job security - Good for people who'd like just to come to work to "punch another pensionable day"

Cons

- Extremely toxic office environment - The notion of teamwork is unheard of - No long-term organizational strategy - No career advancement options - Incompetent management. Some managers can't even write their own emails (just imagine how pathetic you have to be not to be able to do that). - Some departments are like a revolving door. With even directors changing every year in those departments you can imagine the level of turnover in the lower levels. - Some employees have been in healthcare for 30, 40 years. They never had exposure to the world outside of their well. They just brew in their own pot, having gotten stuck in the 20th century. - Those employees with 20 or 30 years of tenure have a sense of entitlement - they know the organization doesn't have "balls" to let them go.

Pros

Consistent day time hours, benefits, pension, vacation days

Cons

The Director and middle management team are the main reasons why everyone is quitting. It is a horrible experience. Most Associates are looking for work outside the organization. There is an extremely high turnover and no seniority left in the department to help train or support. Overall the department experience is toxic, depressing, overworked and completely mislead.

Pros

Stable position with very good benefits and pension plan A good way to get introduced to purchasing/supply chain systems in a large organization Plenty of opportunities to move horizontally among different team within the supply chain group ERP experience Set hours with no overtime expected

Cons

Limited and slow upward growth Requires long commitment to get pension benefits Pay is not any better than private sector Job responsibilities are narrowly focused, and can be very tedious
