Pros

The idea is great, there are a lot of competent people working on it.

Cons

The CEO. WOW. Just flat out wow. This guy is an absolute trip. Encouraging employees to write dishonest reviews, miss-lead kickstarter backers, investors. There are zero limitations as to how far he will go. The goal is to pump the market and continue to show sales while securing outside investor money, or using his own money. All along the way, treating people like disposable garbage with no regard for the employees or people he works with. Vendors alike, he expects to be treated as a god like figure without any degree of mutual understanding in what respect is. The reviews you see on here are questionable at best and a continuation of propping up the 12 year long "future of water heating" while defrauding everyone (including himself) along the way. Read the comments on the company's kickstarter(s). It's a true tell all as to how things are going. The product is not real, it does not exist and what aspects of it do exist are so over exaggerated it makes it difficult to handle customer expectations.

To whom wrote this review they are not who they say they are (Marketing). We have always had only one marketing director who has responded via post and directly to Glassdoor who has disputed this is not her.

Pros

Great idea, but its 10 years in with no actual evidence it works. Kickstarter failure.

Cons

Megalomaniac founder, words cannot even describe how horrible this man is

A scary place to work

Pros

The pay is decent. Some very sweet and smart people are unfortunately stuck there.

Cons

There's a gash in the ceiling of the lab where shards of an exploding MODEL 3 nearly penetrated the roof of the building two stories up. That was during a test that was meant to show how badly things could go wrong in a worst case scenario. I'm not saying that the same thing is going to happen in a customer's house some day, but the thought of it sure kept me awake at night. None of the original designers of the flagship product are still at the company, and no one who is there now really knows why it was designed as it is, nor do they know why it doesn't work reliably. It seems to me that when something is capable of turning into a bomb if it doesn't work right, you should damn well know what you're doing when you try to redesign it. The lab is a great place to work if you don't mind the very real risk of electrocution and if you're not terrified at the thought of superheated steam blowing in your face. Seriously, find a job anywhere else.

Thank you for your feedback, although we are very sorry to hear it. With 4 paid weeks off per year plus holidays, a generous 80% paid healthcare premium benefit for the employee AND family, as well as free drinks and snacks and a very assessable general manager and CEO (both with open door policies), Heatworks strives to be a best-in-class employer. Our MODEL 3 Water Heater is UL-499 Certified, which means it meets all safety standards and requirements. As you know, Heatworks does its research and development at our laboratory in Charleston. As such, we do test and occasionally push our products beyond what would be "normal use" in an effort to make short- and long-term improvements; these tests are done with a safety-first methodology. If you had any issues or concerns with testing, we wish you would have brought these up immediately with management. We do wish you the best going forward.
