Thanks for taking the time to share feedback. On culture and support: our Subiaco office has a collaborative, long-tenured team, and we invest heavily in planning, peer reviews, and mentoring so people can do their best work. When issues arise, leaders get involved to help, we workshop the problem, and capture lessons learned—our focus is improvement, not blame. On hours: we aim to avoid long hours through weekly resourcing and forecasting across offices. When pressure builds, we rebalance scope or adjust timelines. We also run a 4.5-day workweek (early finish Fridays) and provide four RDOs per year to support balance. Our standards are high—first-principles thinking, buildability, and value engineering—and we’re upfront about that during hiring. Occasionally there’s a misalignment of expectations or ways of working; when that happens, we part ways respectfully.

Pros

In my experience, working in a small or under-resourced team allows people to take on a variety of responsibilities and gain broad experience.

Cons

In my experience, overtime expectations, shifting priorities, and resourcing challenges affected workload and work-life balance

Pros

The people make the business the energetic and passionate place it is. There is a geniune care and attention to detail that goes into both the work and workplace interactions that makes Hera a rewarding place to work. Yes you will be challenged as the workload is diverse and complex at times, but the support and technical knowledge available across the business is readily available for those willing to ask. You get a real sense of value contributing in a team environment such as this where your efforts (be it engineering or drafting) are making a notable difference to the success of the business. The office shift to slightly longer Monday-Thursdays so that the office can knock off at 1:30pm on a friday has been a majorly positive outcome personally and throughout the office. It is a rewarding feeling and quite refreshing to have the extended weekend time each and every week.

Cons

It is fast paced, so if you are of a more timid character I could see where you might struggle. However, if you are prepared to speak up and seek guidance and demonstrate an ability to learn and apply to future tasks, you can learn to get up to speed with this team
