Toxic game show like culture

Pros

Full time hours. Entry level pay decent.

Cons

General Management and expectations are inconsistent, unreliable, feels like a cult/MLM at times with “reward” over hype. Feels like you’re on a game show with how much prizes and trips are dangled in front of your face (if you get them). Your motivation becomes exhausted from the pressure and competitions. Doing your regularly assigned job becomes less attainable and isn’t enough because the “fun” challenges consistently raise the bar. The consistent use of competitions also led to falling behind on older tasks, client complaints, and an increased workload to rectify problems. Management was really desperate for you to show eagerness and insinuate that if you’re not doing 110% then you don’t actually care about your job. They come on very strong with mandatory fun and intense company spirit. The “us vs. them” mentality was very odd! When people choose to leave the company, management would send out messages such as, “Only the strong stay” and “The real athletes work hard on the field, the rest become cheerleaders”(????). Do the free snacks, paid lunch ($10), competition prize, and free trip make up for it all? No. For a 10 week competition, I got $7 a day for burnout level of effort. It’s money I didn’t have before, but the level of hype and growing expectations quickly wears you down. The real prize: burnout and more workload. Management: During a team building trip to the botanical gardens the owner openly and gladly shared that he cheated so his team would win. You could pull a muscle from the whiplash. Trips and Prizes: During an outdoor celebration of the company, the owner mentioned that the table who sings the loudest gets a prize. We followed through and no one received anything. The owner will say things like “there will be a prize” fairly often to gain participation and it is highly looked down upon you if you are not 100% in. For the fancy INSANITY trips, you do not know if you’re going until 2 weeks beforehand. At the start of the 10 INSANITY weeks, there is an overall company announcement to get your passports ready but with no distinction of who is going (passports take time and money!). You do not get to know your goals to meet the expectation but will get asked “Are you coming with us on Insanity?” by management. If you meet the mystery metric and go on the trip, you wear the shirts that say INSANITY on them and cause discomfort for passengers who ask if you’re in a cult. Overall: Red flag “family” vibes. I'd have a better family at the Olive Garden. Uncomfortable work culture. Survive, not a place to thrive. If you would tell your friend to leave her boyfriend for… -inconsistent expectations -emotional whiplash -delusional grandeur …Then this company is not for you.

Pros

-Coworkers that care about each other -Helping clients

Cons

Bullying, favoritism, excessive work load, negative company behaviors, unrealistic metric goals, and shady practices. Training is rushed and lacking. You are promised a lot and told this is a family, but it’s all fake. Employees are absolutely miserable. No health insurance for a year, then high premiums and deductibles. No 401k!

Pros

Hoffenmer is not your typical workplace, its better. Like any job position with ANY company stress is involved - however its how they aid their employees in relieving stress that makes the difference. Stretching, company outings, live music and quiet rooms are just a few of the things that are given to us. The company is accommodating so employees can manage a good work and life balance, again lets be honest, if you want FULL ON ACCOMMODATIONS, own your own business. Make your own rules BUT call us for a FEIN, we got you. The companies work culture is best defined as REWARDING, SUPPORTIVE and CHALLENGING. What other companies REWARD its employees with an all expenses paid trip? With more than generous bonuses and random treats? I think many tend to forget that companies have no obligation to reward their employees for meeting goals and deadlines. A simple good you did your job is the norm, if thats what you are looking for, this is not the place for you. When it comes to SUPPORT from company management you get it here. Now, once again, being supportive doesn't mean you will be told what you WANT to hear, it doesn't mean they will DO as YOU think is correct because YOU want it that way. There is no room for entitlement within this ever growing team. SUPPORT does mean you will be told where you are lacking knowledge, you will be taught on different approaches, SUPPORT is also given by giving a high five or shout out for finally selling what you though you never could or by making that client call you thought you would pass out making. If you like a CHALLENGE and a stimulating environment look no further. Everyone knows when dealing with government regulations you have to place close attention to detail and accept that not everything is black and white. Some things need to be challenged and questioned. CHALLENGES require you to step out of your comfort zone, learn something new and grow. The fact that there are no weekends required, M - F 9 to 5 only, is great! Anytime assistance is needed for after 5 help its always optional and very appreciated. Management is approachable and very much have an open door policy, I have yet to work anywhere else where management would follow up with me on a personal basis to see how I am doing simply because they care. The company is rapidly expanding its employee resources and its wonderful to see. Free food, a daily lunch allowance and a paid lunch break ALL FOR ME? ILL TAKE IT! To summarize, this is a great company, I can tell you, you want to be a part of this.

Cons

We no longer have a 45 min lunch but the 35 minutes are still paid. We need more poopourri. Can we get the griddle back?! We are now higher up, longer walk to the building. No 401k.
