Pros

Genuinely inspiring vision for a greener future, which has attracted ambitious, talented and hard working people who are a joy to work with on a daily basis. There is a great focus on building and maintaining a positive culture at the company where we can be open and supportive of each other. This is helped by regular team-building events and social days. Company shares as part of compensation package so employees have a stake in the company as we grow rapidly.

Cons

Below average base salary, especially considering the high workload, current cost of living crisis, and that we are working in a highly specialised scientific industry with talented individuals. Minimum pension contributions. Although the shares in the company do offset these financial drawbacks somewhat, if not completely. The workload is ramping up, yet the company has failed to maintain an adequate staffing level to ensure work can be performed to the same high standards as previously without frequently working unpaid hours beyond those contracted. We are frustratingly slow to react to the need for more staff, and must hold interviewees to impossible standards because nobody new has come in in months now. A start up mentality also leads to a scattergun approach of employees being expected to keep on top of multiple roles which ideally would each be covered by individuals and specific departments, and thus being spread thin. I am sympathetic that this was necessary as a new start up, but we should be moving away from this now and creating new dedicated positions.

Pros

Good team. Logical direction. Enthusiastic work force. Good product/s.

Cons

Holiferm headhunted me into a scientist role. I provided good work and received positive recognition in supervision. I developed & improved their process. I also helped to apply successfully for their environmental permit. HolIferm had problems with their business plan - which was not my responsibility. I was made redundant at 5 months 3 weeks into my 6 month probation. I was in the process of selling my house in Southampton and buying in Manchester. Holiferm prides itself on mental health caring and yet I received none when they sacked me.

Pros

One of the best moves I've made in my career. Holiferm is a company that values it's employees work life balance and communication from all levels is clear and consistent. The company gives more of a family vibe which works well, everyone is open and communicates well to any level of the business, if there are issues they are address promptly and communicated clearly. Everyone's very supportive of each other. I can only see the company growing for the better and look forward to seeing that progress!

Cons

Not really a con (more of a heads up but depends on you as a person) but if you don't perform well under a fast pace moving company then this would be something to be mindful of. Though there is support throughout, if you are looking for a very laid back job then this should be considered beforehand. I personally enjoy this type of environment but for those who don't just a heads up!
