Pros
As an employee who has worked for HomesUSA for more than 4 years, I have had the opportunity to learn about the IT industry. As with many smaller companies, the HomesUSA employee must be flexible and willing to "wear more than one hat". I have found the supervising staff to be supportive and encouraging during my time here. If you want to grow and learn, you can do that with this company.
Cons
You must be willing to work hard. (A vacation is something done outside of work hours.)
Pros
The office manager was a nice person and people only stayed there because of her. Many times she was pretty flexible with hours and breaks to meet the employees needs. But this might have been more due to lack of time on her part to properly manage everybody, since she did the work equivalent to at least 4 different people.
Cons
They do intelligence tests during the interview, but once they hire smart people, they tear their confidence down with criticism. The CEO and owner of the company, Ben Caballero, is a micro manager and does not think anybody else is as competent as he is. He verbally abuses employees on a daily basis to feel better about himself. He constantly says sexist and racist comments in the office. He doesn't sell a single home, yet claims to be top agent in the US and in the world because of his MLS listing software. Employees usually spend all day putting out fires and stressed out since the company software and websites do not work properly. There is no proper training for new employees because everybody is busy solving problems. It's not a normal day if somebody doesn't end up crying or cussing.
Pros
I am headed into my 4th year here at HomesUSA and I do not see myself leaving this company. I have learned so much about IT and development. It is really cool to have an idea to improve our product, and then get to watch it come to fruition. I really feel like our ideas are valued, if we don't like something or think it can be better we can take it to our team and to Ben and we make it happen. That's the beauty of working for a smaller company where the CEO is right there with you. His open door policy helps to make me feel like my thoughts and onions matter. My manager is the best boss I have ever had, any problem I have ever gone to her for help with, she has helped me come up with ideas for a solution. Hard work pays off at this company.
Cons
If you are not willing to work hard and contribute to a team with creativity, knowledge and passion for what you are doing you might not like it here.
