Awful company to work for/Unorganized/its who you know not what you know to Homestead
Pros
There was a gym accessible to employees that worked ONLY at the Albany Location. I enjoyed SOME of the people I worked with and continue to stay in contact with them.
Cons
As hard as you worked you were never recognized for the great job you were doing. Supervisors were incredibly disrespectful/ unprofessional. There was no "management" within your department. I never knew who to turn to if I ever had a problem because my "manager" didn't know how to deal with employee's problems or criticism. I would be directed to HR and HR would direct me back to my manager. The first 3 weeks of my employment I sat in my cubicle and took continuing ed courses/tests because nobody knew what I was supposed to be doing. Basically for 3 weeks I was paid to take tests about a job that I wasn't even trained for yet. I begged for work, constantly. Finally someone was assigned to "train" me. This person took ZERO time to explain what the description of my job was and what my purpose to the company was. I was handed stacks of paper to look through and was told "check off a couple lines every couple sheets to make it look like we know what were doing". After a few months of working there I was given a few more assignments where I had to work directly with a certain manager that may I say was simply awful. All I have to say about this woman was that she was the most disrespectful/condescending woman I have EVER met. Words cant describe how awful of a co-worker she was. Despite numerous complaints about her verbal abuse ( not just from me) she was never rep-remanded for her actions. After months of being belittled by this woman I was "Promoted" to a new position that I applied for in another office. All I can say about this was what a joke! I was promoted to a job that didnt even have a job description. Nobody in the office new what I was doing there... I was wearing 20 hats. Was I a Loan processor? a Closing coordinator? Administrative Assistant? Receptionist? a Lion tamer..? This didn't feel like a promotion,I was given a raise to order office supplies!!! The best part about this "promotion" was that I was told I was hired simply because after my interview the hiring manager and other male employees pulled up my facebook and compared me to other interviewees. Apparently they thought I was the best looking. Yeah, don't work at Homestead.
