Pros

The mission is a worth while mission in a high priced housing market that generally has a low wage based structure due to its dependency on service level employment Good benefits and salaries You will meet and become friends with some very hard working and diligent co-workers

Cons

Very high turnover, The CEO has an open door policy but it is simply a guise for gathering negative information on staff. Expect if you are asked by the CEO to express negative opinions about your co-workers that they are being asked the same questions about you. Never openly challenge or be openly dissatisfied with the decisions of senior management particularly the CEO You may be verbally chastised and demeaned in public should you express an opinion that isn't accepted by the CEO There is little staff development - it is a sink or swim environment Staff terminations often take place in the middle of the day despite the openly expressed opinion of staff that this policy be changed to end of day. Speak with ex Homewise employees about the culture before taking a position here Research common problems and issues in non profits that have been managed by the same CEO for decades

Pros

Homewise, Inc.'s mission is to assist potential homeowners in achieving their dream of becoming homeowners. I give them huge props for their mission and the clients they serve. There are also some great people who work at Homewise, Inc.

Cons

However, there seems to be a lack of empathy and not being more understandable when it comes to management. Managers seem to micromanage their staff rather than exemplify key leadership qualities such as mentoring their staff, clear communication, establishing trust, encouraging them to grow and succeed, checking up on staff's well-being on the job, etc. Instead, I've seen first-hand of managers being sometimes unforgiving when it comes to human error and there's very little acknowledge of the staff's effort being put into the work despite working through obstacles they face every day.
