Favoritism and Poor Leadership

Pros

The hotel rooms are unique. The hotel recently received a Michelin star.

Cons

My experience working at Hotel Zaza was disappointing. Favoritism is rampant, and there is very little room for growth. Certain departments are heavily restricted, making career advancement nearly impossible. Management does not encourage professional development and, in some cases, actively hinders employees' growth. The work environment is micromanaged, and managers are often passive-aggressive, making it clear who their favorites are. Work-life balance is not a priority, as leadership operates under the mindset that because it’s the hospitality industry, employees shouldn’t complain. On top of that, the health insurance is subpar—it was difficult to find doctors who accepted the coverage. If you're looking for a supportive and growth-oriented workplace, this is not the place.

Pros

Competitive pay, staff, and location

Cons

Heavily lacks consistency. Training and onboarding were clearly not structured, and rules were only applied depending on who was involved. There was a noticeable lack of accountability from upper management. There was little to no recognition or feedback unless something was wrong. Overall, the lack of structure, professionalism and consistency made it a challenging place to work longterm.

Pros

Reasonable pay, opportunities for growth

Cons

Projects an external image of luxury and excess, but internally corners are cut at every given opportunity; employees are stretched to their absolute limits. The clientele is extremely demanding, and guests who cause significant disruptions or, often enough endanger employees and other guests are not held to account for bad behavior as long the money keeps rolling in.
