Pros

Very friendly firm, everyone was generally kind. Very relaxed approach and dress code. Have half day Friday's in the summer.

Cons

The management was a cluster. The owner was never there and never knew what was going on with the company. Then the sales manager and a ton of the staff quit suddenly. Went down in flames.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As you may know, we have had several internal changes over the past few months that have greatly improved the lack of communication across departments along with strengthening our core values and purpose. People are the core of our business, and taking care of our customers is just as important as taking care of our associates. It is with great importance that we continue to strive to provide an environment where associates feel they’re valued, treated fairly and respected. I sincerely apologize for your experience and only wish you the absolute best in all your future endeavors.

Little pay and lots of problems

Pros

Somewhat relaxed dress code. Easy job. Employees get 50% discount (for now). Customers are friendly.

Cons

When I first started working here, I loved it. When I was promoted to a management position it started to take a serious turn. I was able to see more into the company, the owner, and COO. Around the time I was promoted the General Manager for retail stores quit. The COO lightly took over some of his duties. I say lightly because she never really did anything besides pass over his responsibilities onto other people without compensating them for it. There is zero communication about anything at Houndstooth. We get ridiculed and yelled at when we ask a very simple yes or no question. We also get yelled at for making executive decisions when we do not receive any response to our questions. The owner is by far the most disrespectful, egotistical, arrogant, cowardly person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He has screamed in the face of multiple employees for zero reason at all. He has also made it clear to multiple employees that he doesn’t want fat people to be wearing his clothes. He pulled 3x from all the stores and has a laughable 2x section. The COO is just as bad. She is great at pretending to be on your side then throwing you to the wolves (CEO) when she is in hot water. Speaking of the COO, she made a post on here in order to up the rating of Houndstooth Press and bullied an employee into trying to find a way to delete the bad reviews. The pay is insulting to everyone at Houndstooth. Managers are paid very minimally to run the stores on their own with little to no help. If you plan on asking for a raise, good luck. My advice to potential future employees: keep looking. It is an easy job for part time employees IF you are not looking for a big paycheck, but if you are looking for a stable job go somewhere else. The COO will hire and fire to help herself. Nothing about the job is honest.

Avoid this place as much as possible

Pros

I do not have anything positive to say about this company.

Cons

Appearances are deceiving, in the beginning. The owner has created a business where there are no policies or procedures for employees, nor any job descriptions to give an idea of what people are even supposed to do. There is no guidance when problems occur which often results in a panic. Blame is passed around from one person to the next when it comes to handling situations, cultivating a toxic and hostile relationship between co-workers. I strongly discourage anyone from considering this place as an employment opportunity. It's not worth the time and emotional investment.
