Pros

Salaries are fairly good for public sector (depending on role). Entry level roles are paid close to 30k Colleagues are friendly Great hours/work life balance - flexi time is always approved, holiday allowance is generous. If flexi time is used to its fullest extent it gives an extra 24 days holiday per year on top of the 25 standard days. The work in my role is fairly varied. The organisation is expanding so there are regular opportunities for progression It is possible to work anywhere in the country on the same salary (no London weighting)

Cons

The Dispute Support team are horribly overstretched and are forced to be on the phone 24/7. I don't work in this team but I would avoid it if I was looking for a job here. They have a much higher staff turnover rate than the rest of the organisation.

Pros

Meaningful work. Remote working. Good pay.

Cons

Overly ambitious leadership that puts targets above residents and that of staff wellbeing. Really poor attitude to staff engagement and communication. Generally not a nice atmosphere to work in.

Pros

Caseworkers are generally supportive. Good pension. Market rate pay.

Cons

Toxic work environment created by senior leadership. Getting progressively worse. Endless work stress, having to work extra hours unpaid to meet the targets. Told you have to “make up” for leave you take in the 2 months after. Wild inconsistency amongst managers and a failure to properly train and support new managers makes that worse. Poor handling of change at a senior manager level. Bad managers remain in post, with no action taken. Constant team changes with no say in whether you’re moved causing stress, especially given wild inconsistency amongst managers. No stability as they change everything constantly.
