Demoralising to work here

Pros

People are in general are friendly and nice. I made some good friends here.

Cons

No equal opportunities to shine, those that are well liked will be given plenty of opportunities and promoted. Management keeps saying we are mnc but in reality we are far from it. Few promotions from within, the management is fond of bringing in managers from bigger companies. No training given to lower ranking staff which makes staff feel demoralised. Overall structure is messy. Company functions on dictatorship.

Toxic environment

Pros

Nothing exciting awaits you. If you are lucky, u get colleagues who get along, otherwise good luck….

Cons

Work culture is toxic, look down on people. No basic respect extended among colleagues. No progression. Perpetually dwelling on same subject matter, waste time and best of all, nothing happens. Company values is for show because nobody practice what they say. Everybody is here to punch in and out to get a salary at the end of the month. Everybody like to follow old practices and cannot adapt to new things. Managers are harsh, demanding and micromanage. Good people are leaving 1 by 1.

Pros

1. Friendly and helpful colleagues. 2. One month Contractual Bonus.

Cons

1. Many products are always out of stock (always OOS for 1-2 months, some always 4-6 months, and we still carry the target, the reasons given are: company will not hire someone for stock inventory, lack of raw materials). 2. No safe platform to give feedbacks / comments. 3. When things are under unfair situations, managers and management will not fight for staff (e.g. Urged everyone to go to field physically despite the covid cases shot up to nearly 30k per day in 2021, without giving protections like masks & hand sanitizers on regular basis, we were not even allowed to claim for RT-PCR test if we are under close contact / suspected case). 4. No performance bonus even though bosses announced MY team over hit in 2021, during kick-off meeting Jan 2022. No reasons given. 5. No transparency. 6. Multitasking is required. 7. Apply for own annual leave / leave in lieu is a headache. Immediate superior will question a lot (Why are you applying leave on an office-reporting day? Are you going anywhere? Are you reachable if customers call? Can you go to work if there is anything urgent even though you are on leave?) 8. Management is kind of out-dated. Because we once heard from top management saying that “I still can’t get use to all these Zoom meetings” in 2021, one year plus since Covid emerged. 9. Managers don’t really like to wear masks in office’s public area even that is mandatory (from cubicle to pantry or washroom). Some of them even said it’s better to get Covid because that will boost their immunity. 10. Most of the time, staff are required to attend meetings physically, and are required to conduct CME or activities physically (unless customers refused to). 11. In the event of “optional” is given (e.g. team lunch), we must still follow the majority. Because “it doesn’t look good on us if we don’t attend”. 12. Everyday have to type “Good Morning” in the whatsapp group. It is very annoying, because we cannot find or sometimes overlook important messages. This “culture” is implemented since 2020, during lockdown period, as we couldn’t see each other, so greeting in whatsapp group was the “best way”. Now all economy sectors are back to normal, even international borders are opened, this “ridiculous culture” still continues. 13. Invisible pressure due to toxic environment.
