Pros
Small organisation presents big time learning opportunities although the initiative has to be taken by the individual. The cross interaction with an experienced research team ensures brainstorming ideas and adds to the knowledge base of the team as a whole and for the individual too. Topics are analysed in-depth, ideas are proposed across the table and experiences are shared and everyone has as say in these discussions.
Cons
The firm lacks guidance from the senior management. The processes required at the research desk seems to be absent. There are no clear cut responsibilities at times especially for economic research. The communication is skewed and the flow of information is not smooth among team members owing to unnecessary secrecy.
