Cons

- 2 YEARS WITHOUT ANY TRAINING They might even be the only digital agency that did not send anybody to DigiCon. Yet they expect their employees to know everything Digital and not make mistakes. They also love hiring fresh graduates, but don't train them, nor guide them. You are exected to be an expert. - RACIST BOSS "Written by Filipino (pig emoji)" was posted by COO on his FB profile when a friend noticed a minor mistake in an SEO article. Did he ever realize it was proof-read and approved by a Chinese? Oh well. - ONE-SIDED FEEDBACK SYSTEM Not just one-sided but also blindsided. You never get to read what your seniors said about you. You never get to provide feedback for your seniors as well. You'll be surprised at how little your increment is. - INCREMENT AND REWARDS ARE AN INSULT OR EXTRA WORK You'll have to maintain million-dollar accounts in a year, just to receive SGD55 (max) after a year. Promoted or not, SGD500 is the maximum increase they've given. But of course, that's not the case with their precious seniors. CEO proudly gives themed vouchers. But expensive ones only go to his favorite "upper people". A colleague was once given an expensive voucher, after a week she was handed a high-maintenance account. Coincidence? Impossible. We were also given an SGD3 for Chinese New Year. Wow! Coins. - MEDIOCRE EQUIPMENTS Only one laptop has official Photoshop and Illustrator. Clients usually pass their artwork in PSD or AI format. Imagine everyone having to share one laptop to extract materials. They expect Photoshop results but only provides you with Powerpoint as an image editing software. Laptops are also old and slow. Not to mention, their internet subscription is also so low that it's super slow! What a great thing for a digital agency, don't you think? - POINTING FINGERS When something goes wrong, your superiors will point their fingers towards you. And since the CEO plays by favorite, he will not bother hearing your side. He does not realize how supervisors are supposed to guide their people. They will not protect you. Not to the bosses, not to the clients. - YOU DON'T GET TO HAVE AN OPINION Tell your superiors your ideas? Go ahead, but they will not hear that out if it's against their own ideas. - NO TEAMWORK Account Servicing are cry-babies. They will complain to management over the slightest inconvenience. Of course, management will side them. When the going gets tough, they pin you down. They will pull you down just to raise themselves. Most of the times, they are not there but acts as if they guided you all the way. I had an AS who did not inform me that client upgraded their contract to 5 postings, from 3. Management never knew. But when the client withdrew, it's all my fault. - BOND IS SELECTIVE If you are a favorite, you can resign without paying the bond. One employee resigned and needed to pay the bond, they gave a wrong bank account number yet asked the employee to shoulder penalty. Wow. In other countries, some candidates do not have a bond, thanks to their very helpful country manager (pure sarcasm). - WILL USE YOU FOR PERSONAL BUSINESS An SEO article was written to draw people to COO's nail salon. - PUPPETS OF THE MANAGEMENT Not everyone in the office is your friend. Don't expect them to raise all of your concerns to the management- even if they ask - because they won't. They will sail on two boats, but if given a situation that they need to choose, they will let your boat sink. - NO RESPECT FOR CULTURE AND TRADITIONS Because they are racist, they also do not respect important traditions. They think we are shallow because we are disappointed just because we don't have a Christmas party, not even a dinner, not even an SGD1 bonus for Christmas. - WORKLOAD IS QUESTIONABLE Perform well, you'll be given more accounts. They once hired new employees and did not give them accounts until their 6th month. Same salary! I received work as soon as I came.

Pros

They are at the front line of the social media scene and has foresight, though not always accurate, but you can learn stuffs there quickly if you're hardworking enough. Colleagues there are generally super friendly, helpful and cooperative, hardworking bunch which strives to keep clients happy.

Cons

Bosses can be really bossy and you'll be nailed badly if you're against their ideas, so the best way to survive there is to be a yes man and you'll be their favourite even if you don't perform exceptionally well. Company likes to split itself into different entities like ihub Media, IH Digital, iRiver Asia Advertising, Asia App Developer, but all are the same top management, which confuses you. Pros

The application process is quick. Only after a few days of my application online, I was called for an interview with COO. During the interview, he focused on convincing me why I should work for them. And the main reason is that I'll be trained and exposed to all digital marketing aspects.

Cons

So many cons I can't list all....There are many disadvantages for the employees in the contract. 1. Appointment Without informing me, in the contract, i was offered Accounts Executive in iRiver Asia while I applied for marketing position in IH Digital. When i asked them, they said the title is internal title using across region and follows standard contract so there is no change to that. How about the company? Well, because they find me more suitable for iRiver than IH. Hmm, so why didn't you tell me about that? 2. Hours of work Following the contract, you can be required to work as many days as they want you to. And there will not be any payment for these days. This literally means that you can be required to work 365 days/ year. When i ask HR, she said "yes it means you can be required to work on weekends/public holiday ANYTIME. But we don't foresee that and don't encourage our employees to do so...Employees will work OT/on weekends when they need to complete their tasks" ... But is this true? You'll never know. If you are required to work more than you want, you cannot argue. I told them that if they don't encourage and if it's employees' choice, just remove the statement--> of course they disagreed with my suggestion 3. Notice period The notice period for employees is longer than that for employers. This is against Employment Act and I pointed it out to them--> they say: "we follow standard of the regions..." 4. Benefits In the contract, medical benefits are not provided during probation period. When I ask HR, they said medical card will be provided. Therefore, I proposed to remove the incorrect sentence--> Again, their answer is "we follow the standard contract across region" 5. Non-compete terms The non-compete terms are really tricky. You are required not to work for any competitors (any digital company) in their current region (a lot of countries in Asia) and even FUTURE region (which you can't anticipate) within 18 MONTHS after termination of contract. 18 months of unemployment, you will probably apply for some other jobs but digital marketing. So what's the 2 years of training, experience and hard-work using for? I propose to shorten the non-compete period--> Of course, again, they "follow standard across regions..." 6. Salary+ Penalty Your salary will be fixed for two years no matter how much you work/achieve. No bonus, nothing. If you terminate the contract at anytime before the end of 2 years, you will have to pay them 6k ( two months salary) At the end of two years, receive 9k 7. They can always retract the offer One nice day, they emailed me that because they can't meet my proposed changes, they decided to retract the offer.
