Worst Company Ever!

Pros

The staff that work there are great and they really make IMC what it is, without them supporting each other then the company really would be done and dusted.

Cons

The CEO Shairose Ebrahim is an absolute joke. No decision is made without her sticking her oar in. No manager is actually able to manage and no staff member is able to do their job effectively. It is actually a surprise that IMC turns a profit. Shairose treats everyone like she owns them and speaks to them in a way that would never be acceptable in a larger organisation. Staff morale is always low and the staff turnover is through the roof! Do not believe the comments made on LinkedIn or by Shairose - she is a serial liar and will say anything to keep you there.

Don't believe the positive reviews.

Pros

There are nice junior colleagues

Cons

Firstly, the recent influx of positive "family feel" and "open door" reviews are clearly false and written by HR. imc is a terrifying place to work. The CEO provides incorrect guidance and instructions and blames you when its wrong. When people leave the company she tries to cover it up by saying they were fired. Excessive micromanagement of day to day work. CEO is incredibly rude to everyone. There is a hefty blame culture at imc. I see colleagues come out of meetings with the CEO crying. Very very high turnover.

Horrible experience from start to finish

Pros

Free breakfast (Tuesdays & Thursdays only)

Cons

The CEO Shairose does not value her staff, and treats them merely as cogs that keep a machine running. She cares more about how people view the company from the outside and everything she does is simply to keep up appearances. The majority of social media posts are forced or set up, purely to create content for social media channels in a desperate attempt to create the image that they have a company culture. Staff are constantly overworked, as Shairose takes on projects knowing full well that we don’t have the staff capacity or skills to deliver them (For example, we were given the brief of producing an app for a client, when no one in the company had the technical skills to do so). Due to this each person can be doing the job of 3 or 4 people at any one time, with no gratitude or thanks for it. The company has an extremely high staff turn over, which is why they’ve enforced a 3 month notice period. I was asked by IMC to write a positive review on Glassdoor to counteract the multiple negative reviews they’d received. So be mindful of this when reading the positive reviews!! On my last day Shairose didn’t acknowledge me. Let alone say goodbye or thank me for my time at the company. Please seriously consider your options before joining IMC, as it was a completely negative experience for me.

Thank you very much for your review, we appreciate your feedback. We are disappointed that you did not raise your concerns with your line manager or HR, in particular that you felt your workload was equivalent to that of 3-4 people and that you found the environment challenging . As you are no doubt aware, we always encourage open and honest discussions and will always find solutions and provide support if we are aware of issues. We are fortunate that Shairose and the senior managers provide a high level of service to clients such that there is continuous repeat and new business - this gives us a competitive edge over our competitors and we always deliver above and beyond which makes imc so unique. We're sorry to hear that you feel we should have turned down client business. Regarding our social media posts, these always include photographs of our activities and as such are not "forced" or "set-up", the team is very happy to be in our posts and the culture that is shown, is exactly what you get. Shairose makes time for every single employee and has an open door policy - she is often away on client business and cannot therefore make time to acknowledge leavers or thank them personally - the senior managers and HR team always do this and as you know, each leaver has an exit interview. Shairose always makes a point of thanking employees during and post project delivery, in fact her generosity and gratitude at Christmas was thoroughly welcomed by everyone - it included a £10 secret Santa present, £50 voucher, Christmas party and Christmas Eve holiday for every employee. Her gestures speak volumes and the team are well aware of this. We do not ask anyone to write reviews on Glassdoor, and neither do we have a 3 month notice period for all roles - this is misinformation. Irrespective, a 3 month notice period is standard business practice within our industry, in fact, many of our competitors have a 3 month notice period even for junior roles, while imc doesn't. Regarding the work we deliver for our clients, be it apps or any other projects - our client testimonials and growth speak for themselves. imc was in fact short-listed this year as a finalist in Communique for an app which it developed for a client, so we clearly have the appropriate skills in this area. Finally, regarding the turnover, this is no different to any other med comms agency. We wish you well in your future endeavours, if you would like to discuss any of the areas you mention in your review, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us - we're always happy to hear from ex employees.
