Pros

if you are lucky, you get good colleagues and managers in your team

Cons

- long working hours - too much workload for 1 person to handle - high expectations without considering the workload and manpower - very political and a lot of bootlicking - no proper KPI/requirements for promotion - salary is not on par with market rate and workload - employees are expected to wear multiple hats with no additional remunerations - a lot of pointing fingers rather than problem solving

Pros

Now known as Tsao Pao Chee, it's a family-run operation where the owner is worshipped like a deity. Management, a mix of family and outsiders, engages in intense political maneuvering, constantly competing for favor in front of the 'master'. They act obedient to his face but gossip and undermine him behind his back. Employees are severely overworked, forced to wear multiple hats with little recognition. HR, or 'People Organisation' (PO), is utterly detached and clueless about real-world issues, flaunting luxury items while neglecting staff needs. And don't get me started on the mandatory 'mindfulness retreat'. It involves long hours of walking in the dark, blindfolds, kneeling, and religious music for a week—supposedly transformative. Skip it, and you're labeled a dissenter. Despite advocating well-being and an elevated level of consciousness, the reality is a toxic environment where staff emotions are suppressed and pressured to fake spirituality just to fit in. Unless you're eager to waste your skills, endure mental strain, and join a pseudo-spiritual cult, steer clear of this place.

Cons

Nicely designed office with a cool garden for events

Pros

Interesting gossip from duplicitous colleagues, as they badmouth colleagues that they pretend to like. This isn't just the Branding & Communications team, but also Finance, P&O, Shipping, Trading, etc. These people are easily 70% of the company.

Cons

Leadership feels unbridled entitlement to your time beyond work days to include weekends and when you're on annual leave, asserting you should be "passionate" enough about your work to dedicate your whole life to "work-life integration" (i.e. love working for the company 24/7). Common to experience colleagues talking down to each other, within and across departments, especially from the department in charge of inspiring "well-being" to the world. On a daily basis, expect extreme punishment (i.e. get yelled at, threats to get fired) for any mistake that is deemed your fault, and little to no acknowledgment for surpassing KPIs.
