Because the newsrooms are so understaffed there's a lot of scope for anyone to do any story, so you'll literally be thrown into the deep end right from the start. This will give you much-valued experience, much more than your peers at other media houses.
Cons
Low salaries, a culture of bullying and questionable ethics by some of the senior managers/editors because everything is about shining Iqbal Surve's knob even if it means harming one's own reputation.
