Exposure to an old-line Japanese company where you're surrounded by employees who have never worked for anyone but Sumitomo Electric.
Cons
Management is far more concerned with avoiding mistakes than being productive. The place has nothing to do with innovation, it's just a marketing office for a wide range of products for the gigantic parent company. Senior managers are lifetime Sumitomo employees who are ordered to spend time in this office, and it's considered a lousy assignment. They hire a few token locals when they are forced to, but they make sure those locals are kept isolated, preventing them from really accomplishing anything. They're oblivious to the innovations around them in Silicon Valley, and actively reject learning or understanding them. It's incredible this place is still funded.
