Great team but poor leadership and broken promises
Pros
Some great team members. Great location, in Liverpool City Centre.
Cons
With over 20 years of professional experience, this is by far the worst-run company I have worked for. Leadership swings between complete neglect and excessive micromanagement, creating an unpredictable and stressful working environment. The co-founders often adopt a "tough love" management style, but in reality it feels inconsistent and leaves employees constantly unsure of what to expect. Many of the promises made during the interview process were never delivered. For example, I was told there would be a structured six-month training plan, but no such plan ever materialised. The company also appeared to present itself very differently externally than what I observed internally. It promoted itself as having offices in South Africa, North America and London, as well as a wider presence across APAC. In reality, during my time there, the only physical office was in Liverpool, with only a small number of remote employees based overseas. Similarly, the company promoted having 19 business-relevant language speakers on its payroll. Based on my observations, the actual number was significantly lower. The team itself was relatively small, at around 45 employees, and heavily weighted towards less experienced staff. Meanwhile, some of the most experienced employees appeared to be allocated across multiple client accounts while being presented as dedicated resources. The most disappointing experience was having my probation period extended due to an alleged lack of sufficient performance data. Given the work completed during that period, this explanation did not seem justified. It felt more like a way to delay the commission increase that was due upon successfully completing probation. Overall, there was a significant gap between what was promised during the recruitment process and the reality of working at the company. I found the culture, leadership approach and lack of transparency made it difficult to trust management or see a long-term future with the business.
