Pros

Delivery drivers are the best asset. Pay is okay for someone starting out in sales. There is a good variety of vendors and products to sell.

Cons

Backorders out of the wazoo. Do not ever turn your clients on to any proprietary items, because they will backorder leaving your customer without the bath tissue or paper towels that fit their dispensers. You turn in inventory request forms, but buyers will only buy enough to get you through one month. If your client decides to buy an extra few cases, the inventory will be flagged holding up your entire order of all items for 1-2 business days. Buyers run inventory so thin that fill rates are awful. You can guarantee to have a big backorder report everyday of essential items that your customer orders regularly. Manufacturers trucks often get sent back to manufacturer because Interline receiving department cannot manage to return calls or emails to setup a loading dock appointment. Merchandise is daily lost, mispicked, mispriced, shipped short and shipped wrong. You will spend 95% of your time fixing logistics and supply chain management mistakes. Losing customers because of errors and backorders seems the norm at Interline. Management has gotten so bad since the merger with Janpak and other companies. You are graded on performance by a red, yellow, green light kindergarten progress report. If you hit red, you lose 1% of your commission. You are constantly threatened with these letters. There is no real support at Interline. You have some helpful people, but no one truly cares what happens in regards to your client u less it is a national account. Oh, by the way, regardless of the reason for backorders, you can easily end up robbed out of your commissions. There is a $9 delivery fee on all orders over $150!!! Who does this? If your customer or prospect complains and you waive it, $1.15 comes out of your check for each order. Interline is shady about their loads on items. They say 4%, but it's easy enough to find out that some loads are up to 20%. They are unloyal to their vendors yet expect their vendors to be loyal to them. Lastly, don't ever sign a non compete with this company! 24 months you cannot work for another company that in any way competes with any of Interline's 15+- companies and the real kicker, you cannot work for anyone that sells anything that is a current vendor for Interline which has thousands of vendors. Basically, the way the non compete is written, they could sue you for quitting and going to work as a Walmart cashier. And don't think this won't hold up in court. Dnot assume that the non compete means if you decide to leave that you just cannot call in your previous clients. That is a common misconception. Sales reps have no vacation time meaning that no one covers your calls or emails if you wanted to go on a cruise or unplug. There will be no one to tell your client of substitute items of backorders or help them place orders other than your 800# and good luck with that. Insurance plans are outrageous as well if you need to have insurance for a family. Do not take a click down salary to commission structure. They will try to talk you into 18 months click down, but tree is no way to survive on new business in 18 months. Management may promise to work with you if you're not ready to go full commission at 18 months, but you will find them completely ignoring you when that time comes. Do salary plus commission period...many sales reps have this, so if they don't offer it, pass up on the job and ask yourself why...are you in your 20's..and look like the majority in America?

Pros

The most recent Reviews here were flagrantly concocted by content developers, since they pertain to fictitious jobs for the locations they are supposed to be at! Perhaps to offset complaints from actual employees. Selling at Interline is an interesting job, every price quote is negotiable, which is exciting and fast-paced; clients like Interline so it's easy to maintain and build your territory. Very good pay and commissions.

Cons

Micro management by superiors, monthly second-guessing about your sales versus profit margins. One month it's get your sales up (by cutting margins), next month it's get your margins up (and watch your sales drop)
