Pros

The technology is cool and can potentially be impactful, the people are all good scientists with Good intentions at heart.

Cons

has absolutely no order to its structure and who reports to who, management is run by one person who makes all the decisions and goes unchecked. The labs are unorganized and this results in mistakes, things are not clearly labeled and their is no check in or check out system, everything is by paper record that often is incomplete and incorrect. There is no training or on boarding process and complicated biological procedures such as cell culture are taught on the fly and in many cases are taught wrong, this leads to mistakes or poor technique. Mistakes are not tolerated at all, and theres never an excuse. The labs are regulated poorly and data is often cherry picked or manipulated to appear good in reports. Work weeks are long and on average 50-70 hours minimum, with no recognition or compensation for long hours worked, its expected that you come in on weekends and stay late, and will reflect negatively if you do not do such. All of this makes for a poor culture and morale among employees, there is often tension and infighting, the manager will have it out with scientists in front of colleagues, yelling is a common occurrence, and most employees talk about and make fun of how they are underpaid and over worked. The CEO will drop F bombs in the company meetings and lambast employees for not reaching goals. There is a high turnover rate at this company.

Pros

Amazing co-workers. They became some of my closest friends. It's a younger crowd. Before Covid we would have weekly pizza days and happy hour where the company would get us beer. The work was also interesting. Because it was so small my hands were in everything from shipping, to manufacturing, to quality control.

Cons

No clear direction and you will be told 3 different things by higher ups so there's no winning. They tell you there are opportunities to grow but that rarely happens. I had to fight for my promotion that I was promised for about 6 months. In that time, they hired someone to take over my work but never transitioned me. Then when I was finally doing the new job, I didn't get a pay raise or title change for another couple months even though I asked multiple times. I had to make the proposal, job description, etc to push it through for myself because my manager was "too busy". Pretty ridiculous. They would rather hire outside (and pay that outside person more) than to give raises for deserving employees. When someone does something that deserves a raise, they give a Burger King gift card instead. And they will fire you without a second thought. I wouldn't recommend unless you need some experience. BTW, no 401k matching and only 2 weeks vacation, no sick time.

Pros

Some bright young talent; decent medical/dental/vision

Cons

Technology doesn't work as advertised; customers quickly become enemies when they realize how much money they spent for a doorstop; management is toxic; company direction appears to be to trick investors such that the business can be sold off to a bigger company; employee turnover is mind-boggling
