Pros

Merchandise is pretty, but unfortunately the company does not pay well enough to purchase it.

Cons

As a former full time employee, I would rate zero stars if I could. Don’t expect to see your family or have a life if you work here. Expect to spend the holidays sitting at work. Upper management and owners are deeply disturbed people with no souls who berated me, verbally abused me, and even would throw objects like hangers in my direction. During work hours, the owners come check in and circle around you like hungry vultures. The owners treat their employees like slaves and force some to work six days a week with no overtime. For months during busy season, I had to work all weekend, every weekend, and my only day off was during the week– usually Tuesday/ Wednesday (thanks, I guess?). Even then, I would still be contacted for work related things by colleagues on my days off. After taking the liberty to re-calculate my salary to include the 6 day work week, I then discovered that technically I was paid below the NY state minimum wage. How lovely. When hired, they scammed me into agreeing to not get paid more for extra work days when I absolutely should have. I’ve been yelled at inches away from my face by my manager in front of clients (now that’s not a great way to sell product, is it?), been told the only way to get a raise is to sleep with someone, and was ordered to go grab someone’s lunch for them like I was some personal assistant. I became deeply depressed and had to seek help. These people basically get away with murder, and had it not been for my interest of staying in the industry and keeping good relationships, I would have sued– I certainly had many opportunities to do so. This is probably why they get away with things. If you’re lucky enough to read this review and receive warning, I recommend you’re better off working at Chanel, Hermes, Gucci– probably anywhere that they treat you with a shred of dignity. J Mendel filed bankruptcy anyways.

Pros

There are no pros of working here

Cons

During work hours, the owners come check in and circle around you like hungry vultures and even one of their rude wives works for the company (can you say, nepotism?). Pros

This job was my favorite during my career in fashion. They gave me freedom to learn and grow and working with Mr. Mendel was amazing. I bounced from department to department until I found that I loved development so they created a position for me in fabric R&D and I wanted to help in production so they added a few more responsibilities there. Everything was on my own terms which was surprising for a brand like that

Cons

Very fast paced so not for everyone
