If you're contemplating applying to this company, read this first.
"I'm the first person in this department who's lasted more than a year."
That's what I was told during my Zoom interview with the company. This warning wasn't lost on me, but I chose to ignore it because I needed a job. There were other things that I chose to ignore, such as:
~ Passive-aggressive leadership avoided direct contact and struggled to communicate/connect with/lead employees.
~ Outside contractors weren't as helpful as they promised to be.
~ Office/warehouse space is dirty, cluttered, and crumbling, not to mention infested with mice. (Everyone in my department would find droppings on their desks on Monday morning.)
~ Leadership changed my job priorities on a near-weekly basis, making it difficult to finish important tasks before moving on to the next task. Do the next task until you're redirected before completion.
By willfully ignoring these and other things, I conned myself into believing that I had found a home at JB Tools. That mental applecart was upended a day before my birthday. I had arrived at work and sat down at my desk when I was told, "You're not needed here anymore."
I asked them why I was being fired and they responded by saying, "Unfortunately, they don't tell me these things." They barely waited for me to gather my things. What's more, they didn't even bother to escort me out, which is protocol in most if not all companies. (Just an example of the rampant unprofessionalism at JB Tools.)
Rumor has it that issues with a contractor were why I was let go. Too bad no one met with me to discuss this, which is protocol in literally every other company in the history of ever. Instead, JB Tools opted to simply fire me without even a discussion about the alleged problem.
I believe the real reason they terminated my employment was because AI can do my job without the need for a salary and benefits. How fortunate for JB Tools that they have a year's worth of my writing to aid in AI's replication of my content style.
