During the interview process, they will lie saying they have very little turnover and all of their employees have been there long term (they consider 2 years to be long term). You get paid very little for very long hours. The company is quite small but the turnover rate is high. Therefore, you will be doing multiple jobs and working 12 hour days and on the weekends. You are required to check your phone and email regularly on the weekends and it's frowned upon not to do so even while on paid vacation. The owner is verbally abusive and a bully which makes everyone miserable. I would consistently get berated by the owner particularly when he made mistakes because he never admits to his faults. Essentially, every employee would get belittled at some point and usually in front of everyone in the monthly financial meetings. I learned quickly that the moment you stop being a submissive doormat, you basically walk around with a big "X" on your shirt and then it's time to get out as soon as possible! My colleague best likened the owner to the relationship you have with an "abusive boyfriend". He tears you apart and verbally abuses you, then he turns around and says that he does it because he cares. I would NEVER wish this company upon my worst enemy!
