Strong Employees, Toxic Work Environment

Pros

If you enter this business with little experience, a role at this company will offer the ability to learn new things (to an extent). Once your growth has plateaued (which will happen here early on) it is time to go. Benefits are not bad. Employees are hardworking, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Cons

No HR. No onboarding or training. Poor company culture. Inadequate work-life balance. Management will contact you (and expect a response) at all hours of the day or night. CEO has exhibited inappropriate language and behavior. This has occurred in person, through virtual communication, and in customer-facing settings. Leadership is dishonest. Senior management (likely the CEO) has created multiple higher-ranked Glassdoor reviews (I can attest that in the Summer of 2020, there were 0 employees willing to submit a 5-star review). If you are a woman or are a non-white person, run. A profane slur has been casually thrown around the office to describe a female colleague while she was not in the room. The CEO has been known to mock the accent of non-native English speakers.

Pros

My pay was very good and I had 401k and benefits. Working from home was very nice as well and the work hours were not too bad.

Cons

I was fired without warning and was told that I was working my last day and on Monday I would not be at Jamiak. I had only been on for 2 months and they set up all my health insurance so to be honest I thought I was going to be with the company for a lot longer. But they fired me without warning and now I'm in a mess with my health insurance since I canceled my old plan and lost my new plan with Jamiak. So now I am without a job and without any type of insurance and was fired immediately though I thought I was a full time employee. Definitely in a tough spot right now because of this company and would've looked for more work if I knew I only would be on for 2 months.

Pros

Some super talented and experienced people who I now call friends

Cons

Something that you should know is that 6 women in leadership roles have resigned since January with 5 resigning in the span of 3 weeks. From what I've witnessed, there is no process, no onboarding, training and everyone runs around doing what the owner wants them to do whether it makes business sense or not. It's like they are incapable of saying no to him or have tried and given up. Company-wide meetings are full of lies and there's no culture to speak of. This company is full of seagull micromanagers who know very little but think they know it all. If you're looking for diversity, this is not the place for you. The benefits suck and the pay is even worse. The people actually doing the work are disrespected, belittled and called out in public for doing things that the owner didn't like or approve. One of the past reviewers said it perfectly: the owner is not mentally fit to run a business that employs people. He is utterly disrespectful and borderline abusive. Management doesn't listen to anyone with experience and basically ignores those of us doing the work. I DO NOT recommend this company to ANYONE because no one deserves to work under these conditions. Oh, and there's no formal HR to speak of, which I am pretty sure is some kind of a violation under CA state labor laws.
