The Ghost of Jenzabar Past

Pros

Aside from the free seltzer and hard working team mates, there is no longer anything positive to be found at Jenzabar. **Please note, the review left on 2/13 raving about Jenzabar is clearly written by HR or upper management. No part of it rings true.**

Cons

1. Zero flexibility - the CEO sits in the lobby and writes down employee arrival times. 9:03? You're late. 2. Any and all remote option was removed upon the founders return. Employee's who worked solely from home were expected to immediately begin commuting - this includes those who stayed home with children. 3. No incentives - do not expect a raise here. Do not expect any compensation for jobs well done. Do expect below market compensation. 4. Creativity stifled - any and all creativity has been stifled by the dictatorship of the returning CEO. No employee is allowed to speak their mind, and quite frankly none of them even want to at this point. Any and everything the CEO says goes - no questions asked. 5. Morale is at an all time low. Before, the teams worked together and had a great rapport. 6. The returning CEO has a complete misunderstanding of how to run a business - upon return she had to ask what we sold and was completely unaware of the company's function. She's hoping to become the new Apple and expects to achieve this goal by showing the staff 1980s Apple commercials to "inspire innovation." 7. Continuing loss of market share. 8. Religion is shoved down your throat in this place. Expect to see and hear reference to Christ on a regular basis. The list could go on and on...

Pros

I couldn't name any if I tried, I enjoyed working with the people I hired (does that count). Oh, I got a mug once :/. I don't use it.

Cons

I've worked at a number of places, many have had bad ratings on Glassdoor for one reason or another. One even went through 2 rounds of layoffs with me there, yet I feel that Jenzabar was the absolute worst company I ever worked at. Senior Leadership did not know anything other than the Jenzabar way, though the age of the platform should give you some indication of how old that way of thinking is. The infighting between departments at both the staff and senior level was more than could be tolerated. I've worked at places with conflict, this wasn't conflict, this was far beyond that. I often cringed at having to work across departments. I can't blame people for fighting with each other. The poor communication, the lousy management, and generally garbage culture caused it. There was so much conflicting information spread, and there was never a clear understanding of who owned what, that people just got frustrated and let it rip. I believe that at another company, I could have worked with many people I 'fought' with at Jenzabar. It was a hot mess, one I was glad to leave. I implore you, please, please, please do not make the same mistake I made. Move along. The bad reviews are not fake, the good ones are likely not either (though those people are probably part of the problem). One final thing - every message from the CEO was overtly religious. I never received a message about how the company was performing, or what we delivered, sales wins, etc. I feel like I could have tolerated the religious messaging had there been some message at any point in time discussing company performance, but there wasn't. I know why it wasn't discussed, every line was headed down and to the right.
