From my first day working at Jimmy's I was warned about avoiding any interactions with the owner. It was shared with me that he had been asked to stay away from female employees. That should have been my last day but unfortunately, the job market is tough out here.
My experiences with him and with management generally have been with refusal to allow me to keep the windows closed. I have ADHD (who doesn't these days) and with the noisy street, I can't hear or focus on the customers so I close the windows while I'm working. I have been repeatedly reprimanded for this despite consistently explaining my accessibility needs. Most recently this has been expressed to me as non-negotiable that the windows stay open as it is Phil's preference - despite being directly against labour laws of duty to accommodate. I would seriously deter people from supporting this chain. There are so many other independent coffee shops that treat their staff with respect, go get your latte from there, I know I will be.
