Pros

There is still a small core of excellent people at the mid level and in the hourly ranks plus the plant manager in Shawnee who are great to work with and know what they are doing. Probably won't be there for long.

Cons

Ownership is based in India and the caste system dominates this organization. Leadership of JFA is becoming more and more Indian because the owner does not trust Americans. Ownership does not understand the business that they bought - specialty high value, high margin, high cost products. They only seem to understand commodity businesses. As a result they have driven this business to the point of failure. CEO position has been a revolving door, five over last 2 years counting interims. Current CEO acts like a bully and is held in contempt by most of the people in the organization. He came on board proclaiming he would be a bridge between our cultures - Indian and American. Too bad that bridge is only one way. Plant Mgr position in Lagrange has been a revolving door, four in last 2 years. Can't find anyone with specific industry experience because they all know better than to come. Customers are extremely unhappy with the level of service they are getting and are at the point of walking. Management staff at Shawnee are all unhappy and would leave in a minute if an opportunity were available. Turnover this year is trending at 60% in Shawnee, worse in Lagrange. Ownership and CEO are bound and determined to cut heads after several rounds of cuts previously. No thought to how the necessary work gets done - just work harder and longer. That is why more and more Indians are being hired - they get worked like dogs and don't complain. Likely this company won't make it. Owner has mined enough money out of it and will just leave Bank of America holding the bag for his ill conceived $100 million orienter project in Lagrange - you reading this B of A? This was a very good company when Jindal bought it, it's in a shambles now and won't last unless ownership is removed.

Thank you for your posting. We can tell that you left the organization with a negative / unbalanced view. While it is true that the organization has needed to terminate a number of people for attendance issues, non-compliance with safety & other policies, performance issues, and the need to re-balance resources, it is unfortunate that you didn't choose to mention that as an essential business we've been very proactive in terms of protecting our employees during this pandemic; we've implemented many progressive steps to protect the health of our employees (e.g. temperature checks, 2 weeks of sick time for new employees, proactive contact tracing & quarantining, 3 rounds of free masks & related mandate) as we continued to operate 24x7, we've been actively hiring while others have implemented hiring freezes, laid off large groups of workers, or closed, and we've protected the pay and benefits of our folks while other organizations have been forced to implement across the board pay reductions, halt their 401(k) matches, etc. over the past several months. It is unfortunate that you didn't choose to share any of the things that we've done to improve the business and follow up on our employee survey results last fall, including the strengthening of our benefits (including our new wellness program), the introduction of our new code of conduct & employee handbook, the training that we started before the pandemic, etc. Our new LaGrange plant manager started several weeks ago, we have added a diverse set of talented people in Procurement, Finance, and HR, and we've seen a number of former employees reach back out to rejoin us in Engineering and Metalizing in parallel. We're continuing to hire and we're looking for those with continuous improvement mindsets. If you're reading this as a candidate, let us know if such appeals to you.

Pros

Good US based people who trying to do the right thing and focus on the desperately needed improvements for the business. So much to do, so little time...

Cons

There are no good reasons to work for Jindal unless you enjoy being treated like a third class citizen, by people from India who has no clue what the best practices are or mature successful business model should look like. Its like getting driving directions from your toddlers. If you decide to join – enjoy the bumpy ride until you hit the cliff… Owner doesn’t trust anyone and focused only on finding issues with numbers, metrics and performance and trust me there are many. If you join, it will be your fault that the company is performing that way one week into the job. The owner of the company is directly involved in ALL business activities, tasks, goals and strategy setting, progress review, approvals for everything including hiring people - MICROMANAGEMENT every step of the way.
