Pros

High pay if you kiss up to management. Favoritism pays off as you can see by comparing salaries of staff (very low pay) and directors’ pay (ridiculously high).

Cons

Jolt Action has an EXTREMELY toxic work environment that is hard to correct with admin because the harassment comes from the top. I worked closely with the Executive Director, Diana Maldonado, who is a former politician -SHOCKER. I say this sarcastically because Ms. Maldonado puts on an act for her board members, donors and partnering organizations acting as if she provides professionalism and support to her staff when in fact it is the opposite. She harasses employees, yells and curses at them. I have been a victim to her harassment. She often will give you instructions to complete a task and then gaslights staff by acting as if though she didn’t give those specific directions and pointing out all of the flaws in your work. Other directors ignore the toxic work environment for the sake of their high pay. Pay raises for staff who work on the ground is often overlooked. Which is horrible because those are the people who go out and register people to vote, despite how far they have to drive and what the weather may be. I have personally seen higher management give themselves pay raises without board approval and they have been reported to the attorney general for an immediate investigation. This organization will go down the drain fast and soon. Do not waste your time working here.

Pros

The organizing and what’s left of that staff department is incredible. They are the only reason Jolt is still worthwhile.

Cons

Management is condescending and does not live up to the mission of the organization. They offer no direction or leadership and go out of their way to make you miserable when you try to speak up. They do not support their workers but pretend to care.
