Pros

You have amazing customers that believe in the bs story you have to tell people.

Cons

They treat their store teams horrible Almost all the directors will throw their teams under to kiss the management companies butt. You will get fired if you ask a question from those in corporate You are just a number to them and they don't care about you just how much money they need so Burt Rosen can get a big raise from the board and then hire those board members with fat salaries.

Extremely Toxic and Mismanaged

Pros

Meet nice donors and customers occasionally

Cons

The employee turnover rate is astronomical. Workers are routinely fired for trivial reasons or quit due to the toxic workplace culture. Most of the profit intended to help the homeless in reality goes to a management company called SMCO Thrift which charges KARM excessively for their minimal services. Karm 'STORES' is not a legitimate non-profit. It's very much for profit for the management company. The management company takes a dollar and sends a nickel to the rescue mission. Leadership is poor at best. At the beginning of the COVID crisis, a store director told an elderly employee she wasn't allowed to wear a mask because they didn't want people to be scared that came in the store. Customers complain nonstop about overpriced items. Dumpster divers routinely brag about earning huge profits from trashed items that were priced too high to be actually sold. Workplace benefits are none. No snacks provided, filthy break rooms, 30 min OFF the clock lunch. Occasional cheap lunch provided once every few months as a reward for meeting a trivial goal which goes up and down every other month.

Pros

Helpful to homeless community and have many initiatives to support the homeless

Cons

Poor leadership. Upper management are not good leaders, they are unfair and treat employees disrespectfully and dishonestly. To be a Christian organization they do not follow the Word of God in any way. They lead as if they were a secular organization and make up false truths about employees in order to justify their own dishonest actions. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone to work if you want to have peace of mind every day when you go to work and come home at night. Horrible work environment.
