      Good for one or two years - after that, becomes toxic

      Pros

      - People are passionate, and they care about what they do - You have a lot of freedom in your role and there is room for collaboration with other teams if you have good ideas. - Location (you can work from London Bridge or Strand) - Good reputation in the HE sector (King's)

      Cons

      -After one or two years, your role becomes very repetitive. -Not everyone gets to grow professionally. It's a matter of luck (being there at the right time, not because there is a plan for you to grow). -The senior team is out of touch. Ego fights, the CEO takes everything personally, and dog eats dog type of environment. - The HR department is a mess: no one in their team stays more than a year, which impacts employees and policies. Data breaches, wrong details in contracts, payroll mishaps etc.

      Pros

      The senior management team and some middle level managers are sweet talkers but don't deliver so if that's your cup of tea you've made it to your destination

      Cons

      Most of the managers have adopted the right tone for this climate saying the right things on D&I, work life balance and beyond but in reality they want to pay you peanuts and hope you don't have a life outside the office. Most colleagues don't like or respect the leadership team including some of the managers, so don't be fooled into the false sense of community they try to push. The University aren't best pleased with the SUs performance and as an ex-employee I agree! Its a sinking ship and a disgrace to student democracy. Hip Hip Hurray to yet another awful employer who promotes their friends to do as bad a job in their professional lives as they do in other areas and indulges in toxic gossip and bad mouthing. Work here if you like lay offs, un-kept promises, sub-par managers and an institution that excels in under delivering.
