Pros
Generally low-stress work environment with lots of mellow and kind coworkers. Lots of free food and regular all-staff rapport building meetings and exercises (i.e. time away from your desk). Lots of time-consuming all-company meetings on programming & upcoming events which may or may not pertain to your work (pro or con depending on your perspective). Hybrid work schedule, w/Mondays and Fridays being wfh for most positions. They do have a very nice facility in N. Sac (Natomas), 10 minutes from midtown. Side-benefits like a $50/mo gym & wellness stipend, 401k w/employer contributions, & employer paid life insurance policy.
Cons
Lowish pay, zero annual raise structure and minimal, nearly non-existent opportunities for advancement. They seem to be fine making due while understaffed in certain areas, and this clearly contributes to the lack of opportunities for professional advancement as when I left they had the lowest number of employees they'd had in 5+ years. C-level staff seem to take pride in the refrain that "the only difference between a business and a non-prophet is a tax status" because I heard this often from multiple different parties. However, this attitude, especially when considering the low wages offered, sounds like they lean into the wage-exploitation fundamental to corporate business models (wages are often the highest overhead expense, so it's the quickest way to increase your bottom line). However, they do seem to take pride in leaning into a corporate business model as some positions were quickly and easily outsourced.
