DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

The New York office has a handful of good people - Al Romano is the only saving grace on the Eagle floor.

Cons

The pay, the layoffs, the company vision/mission/future, the limited opportunities for growth. When you sign your non-compete to become an AE you are basically stuck with the pathetic $35,000 or $33,000 base salary they think is an excuse for a "livable wage" and the company wide commission structure (when they never meet budget) will only get you to about $37,000 (my tax return for 2017 is a joke). They just had another company wide layoff which eliminated about 40-50 people in all their offices nationwide. The worst thing is if you look for another sales job from here they will ask about 'quotas, numbers, etc' and you hardly have anything to show for it after working here. Do yourself a favor and work ANYWHERE else upon graduating college. This place is a black hole and you will gain little to no valuable skills moving forward. You're also looked down upon for taking your full hour for lunch and will most likely get nasty demeanor from your co-workers if you do.

Failing company led by overgrown man children

Pros

They can be flexible…but it depends on your managers mood that day.

Cons

Inconsistency Unmanageable work load and grossly underpaid - no one ever gets a raise unless it’s state mandated. They even have reps making less money than assistants. They choose favorites by whomever is kissing their butt each week. Play by the rules and don’t question their authority or your position becomes jeopardized…because they don’t want people to create “friction” They won’t value you as an employee…create anxiety in stressful situations…and make you fill out comments on spreadsheets to prove why you are essential to them. But when you leave you get the silent treatment…no “thank you” whether you’ve been there for a year or 20 years, and basically shunned. The powers that be are literally overgrown man children.

Pros

Friendly environment.Company outings -Training - Work life balance is okay - great media experience - some opportunities through the company

Cons

You CAN and WILL be "terminated" at will and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. And you will be "terminated" because I've been here long enough to see the pattern. Let go of the old/seasoned employee and hire new employees for less and call it a "RIF" or reduction in business. Not only do you go on day to day worrying which day will be your last working at Katz, but the pay is extremely low! Management lacks direction and the teams' overall structure is unorganized/understaffed.

It is understood and agreed by Katz employees, that employment is on an “at-will basis.” This means that both the employee and Katz have the right to terminate someone's employment for any reason or no reason, with or without cause or prior notice. This policy is quite standard in business and each employee starting at Katz signs an offer letter containing this language. Of course, it is not Katz's mission to terminate employees as we hope that we'll foster a relationship with our staff in which employees can learn and grow and have a long career with Katz. This is definitely evidenced by the large number of employees that have long been tenured with the company. Unfortunately, sometimes, due to the business climate a reduction in staff is necessary. It is never an event that management wants to happen nor takes lightly.
