      Don't Work Here Even If You're Desperate

      Pros

      The work was challenging and the interaction with the students was rewarding.

      Cons

      The administration created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. Staff were yelled at and bullied. Faculty were given bizarre orders and told to carry them out or be fired. No one was ever praised for doing good work but were constantly told they were failing at their jobs.

      Flexibility; a few select individuals are amazing to work with

      Cons

      Absolutely despicable management on all levels; trickle-down politics; individuals in management will only operate on the notion of CYA for themselves; horrid procurement process, (which ultimately prevents individuals from performing their responsibilities); routine announcements suggesting the University cannot/will not pay the bills; payment process will be monthly as opposed to bi-monthly beginning in 2021; zero advancement for positions and a locked salary, etc. etc. etc.... How this place stays in operation is beyond anything...

      Pros

      Strong, dedicated faculty and professional staff. Small campus. Liberal Arts focus. Mission extremely important. Long and storied history. Opportunity to make a significant difference in student lives

      Cons

      Management was chaotic, highly bureaucratic and weak. Policies and procedures were rarely written down and often conflicted. Top-level administrators were focused on their external careers, to the detriment of the university and students. Years of chronic underfunding from the state produced major infrastructure issues. Technology was far behind where it should be.
