Pros

KidsPeace is challenging, but it can be a rewarding place to work. Relationships you build with kids can lead to lasting change in their lives.

Cons

Administration is disconnected from the wants and needs of direct care staff. There is no benefit to doing your job well, and no consequence for doing your job poorly. Raises are given based on tenure and there is no meaningful job evaluation. If you have no intrinsic motivation to do your job well, there’s no incentive to do so. Employees working twice as hard as their coworkers will receive the same compensation. Ways to advance are limited.

Pros

When the ‘system’, schools, friends, family or even the client themselves seemingly gives up, KidsPeace does not. It remains steadfast in its mission to offer hope. It is an honor to be given such an opportunity that you know is leaving an indisputable positive impact. Phenomenal and trail-blazing training initiatives to get staff where they need to be. Incomparable Mental Health opportunity like no other. (having KidsPeace on your resume means something) The privilege of working with amazing kids! Internal transfer opportunities abound for accomplished staff. Many of those in leadership have actually risen up from direct care positions. KidsPeace offers support along that career journey. (training/tuition reimbursement, and opportunity)

Cons

The community will never truly know about the daily miracles occurring in the lives of the clients at KidsPeace and their families. This is achieved by selfless staff that honestly could never be thanked or shown enough appreciation in this lifetime for the work that they do. The staff knows this, and still chooses to work for KidsPeace. A rigorous onboarding process for new employees? YES. KidsPeace serves some of the most vulnerable of society. Would you really expect any less? No company is perfect. Have I had days at KidsPeace where I have been tested? Days that I could easily write a 1 star review? Yes. 100% Unlike other companies that seem to offer instant gratification to its employees. KidsPeace does not promise that. The reward is achieved with time, effort, and by demonstrating integrity.

Pros

1. The mission of KidsPeace is the number 1 reason to work here. 2. The people I work with are incredible. 3. The opportunities for movement and advancement are numerous. 4. The training is extensive. They offer many certifications and development opportunities.

Cons

1. It's very challenging to work with mentally ill and behaviorally challenged children. It's not for everyone. 2. This is not a place to "get rich". Instead, it's a place to give back and achieve altruistic fulfillment.
